Driving yesterday afternoon and the airbag warning light began to flash periodically. Then it stopped and hasn't returned. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced that or what would cause something like that to illuminate and then just go away? 2010 Mazda 3 GS, 148,xxx km

Usually a code reflects the number of time it blinks...
Google airbag codes to understand what I mean.
Ie: 1 long blink, short pause, 2 short blinks is code 12 - low battery voltage.
Hard to know exactly what's wrong without the code... I got code 22 a few months ago... Sensor under my seat was loose.

Dang... Wish I knew that because it was flashing as I drove. Even if I knew it's not like I could pay attention to that while driving. I guess for now I'll just be happy it went away and assume all systems are working correctly

Could just pull over. Mine would stay till I shut off the car.
If it happens again pull over and note the number of blinks.

Some ODBC scanners can pull the stored codes, even if the fault cleared.

To revive this thread, the code came up again today coming back from a night in Guelph. Was able to count it this time. Code 23. Searched online and I haven't been able to find anything. Any ideas?

23:
23 Battery or 12 volt (VSS) Voltage
Check your battery connections... make sure they are tight and corrosion free.

Thank you staax for always being so helpful on this forum! It means a lot to me and everyone you're always helping :) can you send me the link to where you found that 23 was for that?

I've come across this link but when you scroll down it just gives the DTC for the Mazda 3, no mention of double digit codes for our cars

Airbag codes are different from your typical P0XXX DTC's. You can find a list by typing "airbag codes Mazda"... most codes between manufacturers are very similiar, but some are different.
Here's the link I used:

Actually, thats the same link I used. See where it says Mazda 3 2003-2011? Likely because this list was created in 2011... should cover up to 2016 now. It says 23 - Battery or 12 volt (VSS) Voltage.
Normally that means the connections are weak/corroded or the battery is starting to go.

Battery terminals were in fact crap-covered... A nice cleaning with baking soda and coating with white grease should fix that. Thanks for the help!

Good news. That's likely your culprit.
If it comes on again report back. Make sure when you do clean them that you put them on tight too!
