I looking to spice up my lights..... I have a 07 Mazda and was thinking of LED tail lights and HID reverse lights.
Do I need to buy a entire new light kit or can I simply replace the bulb?

You do NOT want HID as reverse lights... That's just silly.
LEDS are completely doable.

since you have an 07 I wouldn't recommended changing the reverse lights unless you will be getting good quality LEDs since the light output might not be as great. For tail lights, I would look to buy the complete housings that come with the lights. Only changing the bulb to LED won't really do much

For the reverse lights, have you considered the combo projection/LED bulbs? I had them in my Mazda3 (... actually using them on my wife's Mazda5 right now). I picked them up from Nextmod in Markham. I would assume the Mississauga location would have them too, but do not know for sure.

If you are going the LED bulbs route, check out DDM Tuning; I've have great experience with their LED and HID kits (the latter I've run on my Mazda 3 for like 6 years now without issue).
Make sure to share some pics when you're done :)

HID reverse lights are doable... I am running them in my '08 sedan. Note that installation is much harder than for LEDs. You have to find a place to mount the ballasts, figure out how to secure them, and also deal with securing the wires. Another thing to keep in mind is they take a few seconds to get to full brightness, especially in cold weather. I am using them because when I installed them they were the brightest option available at the time, but LED technology has advanced in the last couple of years, so LED project bulbs may be brighter. One of the things I did find with LED projector bulbs (on my car) is that they were throwing the light out to the side so the light was very scattered and not out the back where I needed it. The HIDs provided a better light dispersion patter.
