View Full Version : Electrical system restarts itself during drive?

I've got a 2010 Sports GT that seems to restart what I believe is just the electrical system during drive. Out of nowhere, bluetooth would disconnect, with Hello! displays with chime, power steering loses for that 1 second during the restart, power steering warning, traction control warning, hand break warning, and a few other indicators would come on for that split second. I believe the engine continues to run. Brake seems to stiffen as it loses the power brake system. It started happening about a month ago, but only occured once or twice. But recently, it's been happening almost every drive, which is frightening.

Couple months ago, I've replaced a set of aftermarket HID ballast I've used since 2010 with a pair of DDM turning 35W ballasts. Other than that, no other changes or mods. Yesterday tho, I've tried to drive with the lights off during the day, but the restart still happened.

Could anyone shed a light on what could be the culprit?

Thanks in advance.

I had something similar happen to me in the winter. Every warning light came on but the engine kept running... Turned the car off and on again and hasn't happened since. Maybe a weak battery or poor connection could be causing it, or maybe the main computer of the car is going out.. Tough to say, but it's definitely not safe lmao

Sounds like a loose connection at the terminal

Did you disconnect anything when you were installing your HID's?

Did you ever figure it out?

I took the Strat tune off and put on the COBB OTS 1. Hasn't happened in almost an hour. Fingers crossed.
