I lifted up the wipers, and it appears the passenger side motor is squealing. The wipers move very slowly, sometimes it stops all together.

What can I do to fix this?

I have a 2007 mazda 3 GS.

You can try lubing the mechanisms up (ball and sockets), but it sounds like the wiper motor might be burnt out tho, if they stop altogether (FYI, there is just one motor, and both wipers are linked together)

You'll have to lube everything as per dentinger and see if it gets better. The longer you wait and try to use it like that you'll end up replacing the motor and if there is still some load you're going to burn a new motor too.

Just an update. I went to my mechanic. It was actually the tranmission linkage that seized up. $160 to fix it.

I am never buying a mazda again. The quality is so poor w these cars. You only realize how dangerous it is to drive wo wipers when it is raining. Seems like every month i am having some new failure with the car.

Cheap enough.

Lol, they're great cars, as long as you maintain them. Don't think anyone on this forum really has any issues with them. Every car needs repairs at some point in its life.

I maintain my car pretty well. Only synthetic oil. But the last 2 years, many parts have failed and needed replacement.

i had to replace my wiper transmission linkage about a month ago, but that was my own fault, i was trying to get the wiper arm off to clean the rust and repaint. the bolt was so rusted i ended up breaking the linkage. $30 on ebay and half an hour and i was up and running again.

perhaps something held down the wipers while trying to run and it messed up the linkage. Are you the kind of person that uses the wipers to get snow off the windshield? as mentioned before, take care of the cars and they'll take care of you, outside of the rust.

It's an 8 year old car. Things are going to need replacing.

I don't think oil changes are the only maintenance item that need to be done. "Synthetic oil" would have nothing to do with it either. At 8 years things just start to wear down.
