So I purchased an aftermarket fog light kit and started hooking everything up,
I put the pieces into the bumper, lights in and did all the wiring, checked that everything was working, the button turned them on and off perfectly no issues,
taped up the connections and started the car,
when the car is started the lights don't stay on,
they don't flicker but will stay on for a few seconds and then off for a few seconds, and will continue to do that the whole time,

anyone have any idea about this or solutions??

What'd you tap in to.
What car
What kit?

I'm not sure what kit it is, i bought it off some guy off kijiji,
It came with a button that you put beside the dimmer switch so I tapped an orange wire and the ground into the dimmer switch, then there was a red wire coming from the button which i wired up to the steering column into a black and red wire,
I have a 2005 mazda 3 GX Sedan

The dimmer wire that you taped into is a constant on power source, and works by connecting the grounds to turn on the lights in your cabin. That means that your fogs have constant power too, and are turning off with the cabin lights when the dimmer disconnects the grounding points.
... If I read that right.

they dont go on and off with the cabin lights though, the cabin lights can be on and they will still be flickering, same if the cabin lights are off

At this point a volt meter is going to be your friend.

"An orange wire"
"A black and red wire"

What exactly are those two wires connected to? Why did you choose them? Picking random wires is never a good idea.... and where did you pull the power for the fogs? I am assuming that the under-dash "orange and black & red wires" are for the coil side of a relay, what about the switched contact side? If you are feeding the fogs directly from the dimmer wiring that would be your problem right there....I highly doubt whatever you've tapped into can reliably supply the current to light the fogs, and you stand a fair chance of cooking the body computer (PJB).
