A month or so ago, I had 2 exhaust hangers near the rear of my Gen1 snap off.. because of the rust, lots of places want me to replace the exhaust before welding a hanger on.. f* that..

I had a different idea.. so I made a new, adjustable hanger.. I still need to drill some holes in the plate to get the bolt through but you get the general idea..

This should be as good, if not better, than the welded on hangers that come stock w/ the exhaust..

Whatcha guys think?

If there's a lot of vibration in the exhaust, I'm sure that'll weaken over time as well.

Looks like a good easy fix that if it did fail, you could make another one.

This is what it looks like on the car. I used the old weld to center the tailpipe on the muffler. I might bend the upper bracket by 45° so it sits flush with the bushing. Well see after the test drove after work if it works as hoped.
