I've had this unit installed in my 2010 Mazda 3 GS (non-Bose) for about a year now and wanted to pass on my experience to anyone considering purchasing an Eonon GPS unit.
Firstly I must mention that I bought the unit from Eonon through ebay. It came from China after about 2 weeks shipping and I had to pay about $80 taxes and fees because it came by FedEx. Installation was very simple and took less than an hour. Unit works OK but the radio reception is very poor. I even installed an antenna booster which did nothing. Last summer I installed a backup camera and that always works great.
Now for the real problem. A few days ago, the unit and my indash display would not turn off when I turned the ignition key off. I did some troubleshooting and found that the can bus decoder that came with the Eonon was at fault. I went to the Eonon website and it shows that their units come with a 2 year warranty. I contacted Eonon and they informed me that because I purchased the unit through ebay from them, I only had a one year warranty. It's been almost 1 year to the day that the can bus decoder packed up. They sent the unit out beginning of December last year and now at the end of December I am out of warranty. They agree that the can bus decoder is at fault and are willing to send a new one for $50 USD. I have since reinstalled my factory Mazda radio and get great reception. Next summer I'll probably reinstall the Eonon and use it without the can bus decoder. The unit should still work, but I'll have no steering wheel controls and probably no station info on my indash display. I'm willing to live with that.
After spending almost $500 Cdn on the Eonon D5163Z, my conclusion is that I wouldn't do it again and would not recommend it to anyone out there. I know there are a lot of positive reviews regarding this unit on this forum, but as you can see I'm not one of them. If your Eonon radio ever fails to turn off, suspect the can bus decoder.

I understand your frustration , I have the same unit but different problems . My unit button light doesn't keep the brightness , it goes low after a while , then it goes up normal, low, normal ..... wtf .I have asked Eonon about this issue and they sent me a file to upgrade the unit , but I am scared not to make more damage . I have this unit bought from their website , one year ago I think . Satisfaction , 70% . It look cool, but definitely can be better . All functions work , sometimes it freezes for unknown reason. To send it back to be repaired I am not sure is an option since I don't want to spend other $80-90 CAD . As you said, radio sucks .
So my question is : should I upgrade with the new file received or not ?
*** low brightness is not visible during the daytime , very low during the nite .

LiviuTincu, Depending on how much this bothers you, I would likely just leave things the way they are. The light should be off during the day anyways. Have you tried changing the color of the knob lights to see if that makes a difference? If you really want to try it, I cant see a problem with flashing the firmware as long as you are sure it is the right file for your unit. If anything goes wrong, you should be covered under waranty. I looked it up before and if you bought from their website, you have a 2 year waranty. You are right though, the shipping back to China would be expensive. To sum up, I would leave things as they are. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Hi Voodooman, I have actually went ahead and flush the system with the new patch they sent me . It did nothing . They sent me some instructions on how to do it, but they were not complete and for 2 days I had no radio . Couple days latter , after a buddy at work translate in Chinese my message , they replayed back with additional info about the install and finally restored the radio . I have bought the unit from their eonon website , but just to let you know they have no warranty actually , you have to send the unit back to China for around $80 CAD , it takes 6-8 mounts to try to fix it .

Thanks for your email.
We check with the tech again and they told us you need to return it and we can find what's the problem when we test it.
And please kindly note that it will take about 3-6 months to repair it.
And in general, we suggest our customer take a refurbished head unit instead or get a coupon and pay the price difference to get a new head unit.
Hope to hear from you.
