Hi Everyone

I have narrowed down my tire pic for this winter to one of the following.

hankook w300 ice bear
toyo garit ht
kumo kw17

now from all of the research i\'ve conducted
the toyo are more of a performance tire than the other 2,
the kumo performs very well and give decent handling performance
and the hankook\'s give good winter performance but it is not a handling performance tire but will last longer than the other 2 since it is a v rated tire.

Now given my situation, my other half uses the car for work mainly highway all over souther ontario. so handling performance is not a major issue as she is not an aggressive driver. However i want to be able to be comforatable knowing she is in good hands with the tires i purchase.

now does anyone have anyting they\'d like to add that may or may not sway my decision to go with the hankooks?

Thanks,

Kyfe

a v-rated tire may not necessarily last longer than a lower speed rated tire.

the kumho kw17 are on back order (from what i hear)...if you can get them, they\'re a great tire so far. excellent highway handling, minimal noise and good in the wet.

if you can\'t get them, the hankook w300 is a good alternative.

edit: TireTrends has 2 reviews from satisfied G35 owners who have the w300 (http://www.tiretrends.com/tire_info.php3?detailID=10976)....and, in 205/55/16, the w300 is an H-rated tire like the Kumho KW17.

thanks for the feedback

what soured me on the Kumho is that when a read some reviews ppl were complaining that they last only 20-30km before they needed to get new ones, 2 ppl mentioned that they expected them to last longer, other than that they were both very happy with the tire.

The Hankook comes in both H and V seems strange but thats what i got from their website as they have 2 models listed in the same size and that was the only difference.

I\'m not eligible for the members discount yet so these prices don\'t necessarily apply to me.

Ed had told me that he had to raise his $\'s since the manufacturer raise theirs. I think it has more to do with demand since he told me he has only 1 set left.;)

The price tires23 quoted me was the same as the advertised price so I\'m going with them.

For me to pay and extra 10-20 bucks is worth it if it means avoiding hassles.
I\'m really not prepared to haggle about tires, whoever wants my business knows what they need to do to get it.

o ic ic.. as long as you got a good deal that\'s all that matters :D had ed not showed up on this board i would have gone with martin from t23 but they are further away from me and that was the deciding factor .. plus the few bux off :p hehehe

and yes.. definately the demand is growing the closer u get to winter temps.. hence i got mine a bit earlier ..

So I took the plunge this weekend and sprung for the Hankook 300\'s, Deposit has been made and I pick them up Monday.

On a side note, I dealt with Martin @ tires23, he was very professional and a pleasure to do business with, I\'ll most likely buy all my future tires thru him.

Thanks to whoever brought him on this board.;)

Tires Hankook W300 205/55/16 with steel rims $665 cash.

Most places I called want 720-40 +tx for these puppies, if you\'re looking for an inexpensive tire from all my research I\'d suggest these for the Kumho KW17\'s.

Both tires are in the same range price and quality wise.
