Hey I got a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3l hatch manual. And I just started noticing that when the engine is cold at around 3000rpm I get a random boost of power. The only way I can explain it is its like a VTEC cross over. Like the valves are opening more. But when the engine warms up it stops. What could be causing this?

Cold air= more power lol simple, that's why they make cold air intakes...

more denser air cause its cold which might give you 1-3 hp, but i doubt you would feel that. what your feeling is most likely the 3xignition compensation maps in your ecu giving your car increased timing cause its cold out. when the car senses the coolant temp get warmer, it wont add as much ignition timing which usually zeroes itself out by 60degrees coolant temp.

Awesome that does make sense with the ignition timing. I guess it might have been doing it since I installed my SRI and I just noticed it now! Thanks!
