Hi all, I am new to this forum and was wondering if you could share some of your experience with Mazda 3.
I recently got Mazda 3 - 2016 (gs model) and experiencing some weird heating issues, it has already been in the shop twice with some minor improvements to the problem.
It started out with the heater working very poorly when it would get barely warm after 15-20 minutes of running. They said it was an airlock issue and the coolant solution was too rich so they diluted it. After this heater started to work much better and I did not complain anymore. Now we have very low temperatures -27C yesterday. I was driving around for about 25 minutes and the blue engine light stayed on the whole time while heater was pumping warmish air. I am wondering if this is normal for Mazda engines to take this long to warm up?
My friend has a Civic and his light stays on for at most 10 minutes in the same conditions. Should I keep bugging them about it or is it OK?
Thanks for your help

its -27C.
I think you are over-worrying about car related issues.

Thanks for your responses guys, I am not really over worrying it just seems strange that almost after 30 minutes of driving it is still cold. Quite a few people at work told me that it is definitely not normal and could be a little issue with thermostat that regulates the coolant flow to the radiator.
I can definitely live with this if this is how they are, I know it has this skyactive stuff with high compression so maybe its just they way engine designed. I think I will bug my dealer a bit more about, will let you know what happens :)

25 minutes even at -27 the car should be at temp. I would keep persuing the problem at the dealer. The Mexican cars did have a problem with the coolant mix and should have been fixed when the car had its PDI.

25 minutes really seems like a long time... i have the same model it takes maybe about 5-10 mins maybe for that blue light to go away but then again this depends on the driving.

You should really check on what mixture of coolant is in your car right now.

I'd be concerned. Mine heats up very quick, but my 3 was Japanese made. Main reason I got a GT. Mexican made was a deal breaker for me, especially because it was their first attempt.

Do not listen to everyone saying it is normal it does not even take the transmission in my 3/4 truck in this -30 weather that long to warm up there has to be a t stat or another air lock issue modern cars should always be at proper operating temp even when it is -50 outside

-25 today in Mississauga today and it took my car under 7 minutes to be nice and warm... I have a 2010. 25 minutes is ridiculous.

I think it is abnormal to take that long.

Agree. The OP is still under the 12 month full warranty I would assume? He should take it in and demand they solve the issue, especially if its due to the coolant mix...The wrong mix can do alot of internal damage and ofcourse its quite possible there may be a defective thermostat...But it should be checked completely and I wouldn't hesitate to get it done asap.
