Hi all,

I'm looking to replace my high beams with LED replacements, however I have the Canadian model which has those stupid low voltage settings for the DRL. Anyone know of a replacement LED bulb we can use for the high beam? My main reason for this is because I'm currently using the high beam splitter for my D2S projectors so I can use my high beams on the projectors.

I don't care if they are super low output, as long as they turn on for the DRL. As for the high beam I don't really care if they work as I prefer the output of the HID conversion.

Thanks!

Nobody? Nothing? Nada? Dang O.o

I think you'd need to disable the DRLs and run a full 12v feed to the high beam plug for it to work properly.

Is this something that's run through the BCM/ECU? Is it flash-able? I find myself going bonkers trying to figure this out. How they designed this without putting a separate bulb for the DRL's is unreal. I thought they would be a bit smarter ><

It's not unreal, it's economical. 90% of economy cars the past decade have run DRLs this way, reduced voltage through an existing halogen bulb. Less parts, wiring, bulbs to replace. The control part I'm aware of is the 5-prong relay in the engine fuse box, which is also tied into the high beams. I know because you disable them this way, by cutting off one prong of the relay, which disables DRLs while still allowing high beams to function. However I don't know what controls the voltage drop after that section.
