I regret (almost) not ordering the OEM Nav unit - mostly for the looks vs the standard unit.
Looking for find a used one to drop in but no luck, and 50/50 reviews on those android aftermarket drop ins so far, dont have me convinced.
Anyone have an OEM one willing to sell or a source to them?
I have a 2013 Sky with GT options (besides the unit) :P
Thanks

I will tell you, the 2013 Nav unit is NOT a plug and play connection. Car is missing a bunch of modules, and wiring harnesses to make it work.

As Reddie has stated,
You will require the following to make it work
Nav screen- clicky (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2012-2013-Mazda-3-CD-Player-Navigation-Radio-OEM-LKQ-/311633710329?hash=item488ed10cf9:g:w~EAAOSwtJZXXhC 9&vxp=mtr)
USB/BT unit-clicky (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/COMMUNICATION-ECU-ECM-COMPUTER-MAZDA-6-1469611-13-14-COMM-ECU-GJR9-66-DH0A-/351755283708?hash=item51e63facfc:g:oGsAAOSwkNZUpge 5&vxp=mtr)
SD card-clicky (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2013-MAZDA-MAZDA3-CX-5-CX-9-SEDAN-SPORT-TOURING-NAVIGATION-MAP-SD-CARD-DATA-EZ1-/162083609352?hash=item25bcef9b08:g:0toAAOSw8d9UtPg G&vxp=mtr) please note you NEED TOM TOM maps NOT Navteq
Navigation antenna-clicky (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2012-Mazda-3-GPS-Navigation-Antenna-BBM266DY0-OEM-LKQ-/191902141116?hash=item2cae424abc:g:x94AAOSw-4BXaG6w&vxp=mtr) the dash harness will have the pre routed wiring from SD card reader to antenna
XM receiver clicky (https://www.amazon.ca/Genuine-Accessories-0000-81-Z40A-Satellite-Receiver/dp/B0091U4MR2) of you don't already have this
USB/aux in connector-clicky (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Mazda-3-Mazda-CX-9-2012-2013-New-OEM-aux-and-USB-jack-BHH3-66-9U0-/191891089367?hash=item2cad99a7d7:g:J3cAAOSwEppUNx6 4&vxp=mtr) This will also require an additional short chord piece available at dealer
SD card reader-cannot find a link. Very rare for the 13 models. It is located in the center console. You can either mod or buy the console if you can find one.
SD card reader short chord- this harness runs in the center console and connects the dash harness to the sd card reader. No link but available through dealer
Dash wiring harness-Way to many connectors to simply make them yourself. Well, you could but its no walk in the park. Best bet to find a donor vehicle. Again very hard to find rare option
Possibly a new microphone for BT
Estimated price range 1500$-2500$ depending on how you manage with sourcing out parts. Lets not forget the labor.
I am pretty positive I have covered everything required.

Oh wow - thanks for the knowledge - after my original post I did remember the NAV antenna isnt in my car. I would like it just for looks wise however if the whole unit is going to be useless without most of the stuff there not working no point.

My car currently has bluetooth and the USB card in the middle compartment - would this still be needed to be changed and what if you choose to use this NAV unit with no Nav antenna etc?

I would have to go back to the wiring diagrams and see what BT module you have in your car. There are 2 different BT modules. The one I listed controls the USB/BT. Then there is another that strictly controls BT only. The Nav card reader is a separate unit and actually has a direct connect harness with the radio. If that is not present then no Nav will work at all. The Nav card reader also has a power harness connector and the antenna plugs dorectly in to it. The radio without any of the Nav options will work. But again I can't remember if the sub harness for the radio is the same between Nav and not. This sub harness is important because it ties in to the USB/BT/AUX. Also I think there is a third option if memory serves me correctly of just a USB controller meaning the BT module would not be apart of the USB module. I will have to recheck the wiring when I am home to confirm this. The one thing you could add, would be the reverse camera to the factory screen. It does have an input for it. You can get an adapter for it on eBay for roughly 40ish$ plus cost of camera which again on eBay is in and around 10-100$ depending on what you want to buy.

Thanks so much - yes my car has USB (Because I use the audio from the phone connected this way and charges too) + BT option and the AUX cord option + Bose. Just missing this Nav and didnt care for it at the time or to pay the price they wanted when buying.
I also noticed the NAV unit has the HD Radio capability which is another bonus. Dont care at all for the use of the Tom Tom Nav because I use google on my phone when plugged in and it talks to me where to turn anyways when needed.

From the looks of the wiring diagram, they are not showing me a BOSE option with no Nav. The BOSE version does have the bigger sub connector. If I choose no BOSE, then it shows the standard smaller sub connector. Without pulling the radio, I am not sure which sub connector you have. It can be re-wired with or without a connector. With a connector would be highly recommended. You would need to find out who made the connector and see if the company would be willing to send you one. I did that once. Was tough finding out who made it but I managed. The good thing about it is that because you have the BOSE Already you will not have to rewire any of that. The HD radio.... NO idea what the difference is. Cars at work have it and I don't notice a difference

Thanks for that! I guess I have a weird optioned car. Bose I find rare itself in the Mazda 3's as many I seen dont have it on top mine has it yet doesnt have NAV screen. Its a Skyactiv model too with almost GT options (Tech/luxury).
I have an appointment at the dealer this coming Monday for oil change might try to pick their brains to see and id be willing to order that ebay unit if it would work out.

Good luck getting info from the dealer. I tried this before. Thing is, it was a 1 year production run in the 3 and if I remember the 6 as well in Europe for sure. The screen will work, but you may or may not have to rewire the 1 sub harness connector. Witout actually looking at your cars components, it's a gamble. Always remember.... Anything is doable, all depends on the time and money you want to spend.

NAV unit OEM arrived and plugged right in powered on and worked...however only radio and CD within the unit play.. The other 16 pin connection which belongs to the BT/AUX & I believe USB in my car doesnt plug in as the NAV unit expects a 20 pin for that. I also lost the steering wheel controls.
I have to somehow sort that out but dont know how yet.

I believe for the steering controls you have to run a new wire to the headunit. If I remember the wiring diagrams correctly without the touchscreen it runs the screen up top. This has to be rerouted to the touch screen.

The screen uptop (which displayed stations with the old unit) is now shut off as it recognizes the touch screen unit is in now. Only the HVAC temps and stuff are shown.

Yes I am aware of that. But what I am saying is for the steering wheel controls to work again you will be required to run a new wire to the head unit. That's if I remember my wiring correctly.

I believe this might help me with the sub connector....
