Hi i have a 05 mazda 3 my speedometer recently quit working its a 5 speed its been out for a while now but id like to fix it but not sure where to start i think its connected with the power steering is the sensor on the transmission for a 5 speed or what ?

If it's a stick with no ABS there is a gear driven sensor on top of the trans. Check that first.

Yes its a 5 speed them sensors are expensive as hell for the 5 speed but cheap for the auto

Well the auto is a magnetic pick up sensor, the stick is a gear driven one. A bit more complex. IIRC its about $180ish. More than likely you will need to replace it to get your spedo back.
