Hey guys,

I'm a new member here but I've been lurking in the shadows since I got my mazda 3 last year and I'm hoping I can get some quick help before I leave for my wedding this week.

My ac crapped out last year (warm air and noise) and at the time I just cut the belt and forgot about it but now that it's gotten warm I had started working on fixing it. I replaced the pulley (where the noise was coming from) and the clutch plate, and recharged the system. The ac works great if I jump the clutch from the battery but otherwise there is no voltage going to the clutch. All relays and fuses are good (have checked as swapped with known good ones). So I'm thinking it may be an issue with the low pressure cut-out switch. Can anyone tell me if these switches are prone to fail and if there's a way to test the low pressure switch to make sure it's working properly. Thanks!

Kyle

No clue if it's a known issue, but you'll need a multimeter set to DC-volts. When you have the car turned on and AC switched on, you should read 0V across the LP switch (closed). If you read a voltage across it (5 or 12) then the system isn't charged up enough.
