Hi everyone,
Sitting in traffic at 30+C weather with the A/C on I notice the compressor turns off and shortly after that the coolant gauge starts moving up.
I can't hear the radiator fan working so I blast the heater and turn off the car when I can. Once I start moving, everything is back to normal and even the radiator fan comes back on and works fine.
This has happened on multiple occasions. Today I was free to check out this problem and I let the car idle for an hour in the heat and the fan cycled on and off without a problem. Only when I force it to work with the A/C does the fan stop working and let the car overheat.
There is a DTC for the radiator fan, but I was curious as to why it cuts out when things get hot? Is there a thermal shut down on the FCM or something?
I also tried a couple of radiator fans from the yard and none seem to be working, at all... I am guessing these fan controllers are real junk.
Thanks,
Phil.
