Hey i'm just purchasing a beautiful 2010 MS3 and i was curious if the gen 1 hoods of the MS3 can be put on the gen 2 MS3, is it the same size? Anythings il need to do? I love the scoop but i think it looks so much cleaner and dealier without the hood scoop, so let me know if it's possible, send pics if you've done it to your car too! Also, send some pictures and suggestions of some mods I can do to my car, im open to basically anything and looking for some cool, creative things, thought i'd come to the internet for help, thanks

just buy a gen 1 car? the only one available in my area has 100 km and is 12,9 the gen 2 im most likely getting has 50km and is only couple hundred more, so would just make more sense to go with the second gen

But dude, regardless, youd be doing a re and re on your engine in the future.

what's a re? and you find the gen 1's a lot better than the gen 2's? i also just kind of thought since it's newer it would be better performance wise, but i love the look of the first gen

why would he need to do a re and re on a gen 2 and not on a gen 1? all comes down to driver and maintenance. The speeds that blow up are generally not cared for, modified incorrectly (wrong mods at wrong time) and or extensively modified.
Livion no you cannot put a first gen speed hood on the 2nd gen speed. The fenders, headlights, bumpers, rad supports are all different. If you really wanted to... You would have to buy a front mount, get a hood off of a 2nd gen and a auto exe(or whichever you prefer, there are a few options) bumper for a regular gen 2. HOWEVER, you would have to make sure that your front mount is small enough not to give you clearance issues with the inside of the bumper. The fenders can stay speed BUT they do have an additional body line in the fender. I know for a fact that the speed 3 and the sedan/hatch (gen 2's) have different hood/bumper lengths. This is why you need all these additional parts
hope this was helpful

Pretty sure a gen 1 hood wouldn't fit on a gen 2. If you really don't like the hood scoop you would be better off buying a non speed hood for a gen 2, but it would probably not be tall enough. The intercooler would get in the way

Oh I was thinking rebuilding with built internals. Nothing negative.

very helpful, thanks so much, do you think it's even worth it to do this for a hood? will it be really expensive also?

Its all down to personal preference, if you think it is worth it then all of our opinions don't matter. Yes it can get expensive. Hood, fenders(if you want to), front bumper(if oem no problem, if aftermarket...some custom fitment MAY need to be done), front mount intercooler and paint if needed. If you know your way around a car, you may be able to install it yourself otherwise you will need to add in the labor.
YES the hood (2nd gen regular)WILL fit without the factory top mount. I have test fitted it
But dude, regardless, youd be doing a re and re on your engine in the future.
What are you talking about?

Why not just get a body shop to modify the 2nd gen hood, to remove the scoop?

The hood would be really bulgy/round looking. I don't think it would look that good. And the car would have down time unless you would be able to find a spare good for a decent price
