Hello,
I have an engine knocking sound.
I was searching some videos and a few threads, and found someone who has the identical noise from the same location.
In this video, at 1:20 and 2:20, you can hear a knocking noise. This sound has been there for 6 months, sometimes going away entirely.

I just had the car repaired recently, with a new A/C belt, new tensioner and new pulley. However the noise persists.
Could this be a motor mount? or something related to A/C.

Let me know what you think.
thanks

Given you have a 1st gen (2006) I would probably guess that it's one of the motor mounts. The noise sounds like metal on metal knocking.

Could be the ac compressor...they are known for going bad.
Keep in mind the ac compressor cycles on and off when in use also in defrost mode.

So I got it repaired. For anyone else out there with the same problem, it turned out to be a bearing on the A/C compressor. So the bearing was replaced, but not the whole a/c compressor itself. I hope this helps someone with the same issue in the future.

Well good to hear. If you read the comments on the video link you posted, that was the issue with his vehicle also.

Maybe a sticky is warranted mods?
