Hey guys,
Quick question, I have a 2013 Mazda 3 well taken care of has extended warranty until 160k when purchased, noticed just this month that the top portion of the headlight lenses (closest to hood) are "fading" getting that dull look to them. I understand this happens to these types of lenses due to plastic but already?
Im wondering if warranty would replace them....

Probably not.
Only if you could prove the clear coat has flaked off.
The fading is due to exposure to sun, hence why the top is more faded.
Canadian Tire Meguiars headlight repair kit has repaired dozens of those exact headlight for me.

Does waxing them help prevent this?

Prevent.... Maybe when the lenses are already in good condition from factory.
Not sure how uv protective wax is.

Yeah just get a headlight restoration kit. Makes it look good as new

Take it to the dealer and find out if they are covered.
Another question, are they factory HID's?

I had good success with the 3M headlight restorer kit from CT last year. They still look good.

Worked on mine. Used nothing but Turtle Wax Ice on them from new, 11+ years on and no fading.

Thanks so much guys! Ill probably first use the headlight restorer kit especially now since its early in its time of fade to keep them new.
They are actually really nice lenses so id like to keep them mint.

You can take fading out with any polishing compound pretty much or even wet sand it and buff it out. I didn't put any UV protection on my lens after using Meguiras and that was a mistake; the lens got dull looking a lot quicker as I presume you take off UV coating completely that factory puts on.
