Hi been driving my girls 2012 mazda 3 and having a great time with it. Just one problem when the ac is on the cars acceleration starts to act up. When you step on the gas the car takes a while to go? I'm guessing could be a ac clutch but the ac works. Any help?

I find you tend to notice a power loss in a lot of 4 cylinder cars as the AC is an additional load on the engine

I think it's your imagination. Like I said generally there's a bit of a power loss you'll notice with AC

if this is your first 4cyl ever, yes they drive slower when the ac is on. a v6 or v8 you will not notice this loss like you feel in a 4cyl.

So what your trying to say is I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm imagining it. Wow I thought we were suppose to help ppl here not put down. But ppl like you shouldn't be on a forum like this. I'm not mechanically inclined, I know about 4 bangers losing power when ac is on but not so much where car does want to go for 5-6 seconds while making a left at a light. My almost got tboned cause of the far difference of response. But thanks for your help anyways.

its not that you don't know what your talking about. I have 2 2010 mazda 3s. they both drive like they are towing a boat when accelerating with the AC on. its not that you are imagining it. that's just the way it is. if you don't like it. don't turn on the ac. I have been on this forum for 7 years. trust me I have helped many people. but if you have never had a 4cyl. this is how they drive, and the smaller the motor the worse it feels so imagine how slow the 1.4 and 1.6 L 4cyls feel. so you need to learn how the car feels and responses when you drive it with and without the ac.

if you have any other questions feel free to ask. I am happy to be one of those people on this forum to help those that don't know :) trust me there is not many of us left. but if you took offence to my post. then I would sign out and walk away. some people on here are not as nice as I.

My 2007 M3 GT drove slow when AC is on, perfectly normal.

I have a 2008 2.0L Manual and always turn off the AC while turning left for this reason. Its a very noticeable drop in acceleration, but normal.

don't even get me started about going up the hill with the ac on by the forkes of the credit. might as well be going backwards. sooo slow. have to have it in 3rd or 4th to get it any umph to get going
