I've got almost 62 000 Miles or 100 000 Kilometers on my 2005 Mazda3. 2.0L. I have a scheduled maintenance set up soon.
My dealer is suggesting I replace the PCV. It will be somewhat expensive due to the labor. He said that if I don't replace the PCV, there's a good chance that it could end up being faulty due to age and mileage and burning oil that I won't know about. I am thinking of maybe getting rid of my car by the end of the year. Should I take the chance and get the PCV replaced? I also have a stealth engine light code: P0661 - Powertrain Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Circuit Low (Bank 1).

They are giving you a load of crap, that's major bucks to replace due to labour.Many here have near 300k or more and never touched the PCV, I'm at 294k at the moment and no issues. Look up the causes for that code and go from there. And 100k on an '05? Damn that's low. :)
This is what I found on here;

Much thanks Flagrum! My wife likes to drive her car most of the time that's why my mileage is low. I hope I can get a good price when i sell it, hopefully this year.
As far as the code goes, it seems the code requires some troubleshooting. It's not bad right now in terms of symptoms. I guess that's why the CEL doesn't come on. Only when I scan the codes does it show up.

In terms of your CEL, that should be a tumbler valve going faulty. If it passes emissions and cert, then I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe go to a wrecker and grab a new set (they're easy to change and right on top of the engine). I did my PCV at 150K but it didn't necessarily need it. It's a nice to do, but if the car is otherwise fine, don't bother. It's a 6$ part and pure labour $ for them, so they love it.
