So I got a parking ticket this morning by a company called Parking Control Unit , I was at the visitors parking in a townhouse complex ... has anyone heard of this company ? I just find it strange that their website looks so old and you have to call to pay or mail them money.

Does it say on the ticket anything related to the City of Brampton?

Not issued by city. Ignore the ticket.

A quick Google search of the company brings up a bunch of articles, like this one:
https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2014/07/21/company_disputes_torontos_private_parking_ticket_b an.html

Short answer, they're not legal "tickets" and not legally enforceable. In the above article, and several others I found, they're supposed to have been renamed as "invoices", because there's supposedly a large sign at the venues where they're hired to say you'll be invoiced some amount to park without permission. Basically a retro-active charge to park. If it actually said that (yours doesn't) then they could try to put it through a collections agency, but a lot of the threads I found say they never do.

If you're a Brampton resident, you should actually raise a complaint with the City about the wording of the "ticket". Though since I'm finding articles dating back many years from many GTA-area cities, they're not stopping anytime soon.

Seems like a money grab to me. I understand parking lots wanting to make some money if you park over time, but they should have a better system of it.

Yeah their website looks sketchy , I called the city of brampton and they said that complexes hire their own parking enforcers but I don't want this to appear on my credit history , if I don't pay it

I had an Impark invoice before and I didnt pay it because of the articles online. They did call because they passed it onto a collection agency. However, i have never paid to have a check on my credit history but my credit didnt appear to be affected by it.

When i was going through my MLEO training 6 months later, I was told they were going through court process to have those things banned, atleast in City of Toronto. The Impark ticket guys still exist till today lol. I dont park in Impark spots anymore.

Yeah I probably won't park there anymore , I live like a 10 minute walk from my girlfriends complex anyways .. I'm gonna make sure and maybe call the city of Brampton's parking office to see if everything will be alright , if that is a good idea at least

How could this end up on your credit history?

They don't have your name, address, Social Insurance Number, banking info, date of birth, etc.

A license plate is not enough info, especially since they are a private company not affiliated with the government and unable to run your plate.

Was just about to quote this :)

Basically, if private property, the fines are not enforceable and you can safely ignore.

Not that i'm defendign the parking people because i also never pay non-city "tickets", but they could be like the 407 where they have a deal worked out to submit a list of plates to MTO and in return they get names and addresses
