Hello fellow TM3ers,

Current car: 2015 Mazda3 GS, 6spd Auto, stock everything, 44k kms

Over the past couple months, I have noticed an annoying high pitched sound (similar to a dog whistle) and it occurs after the car has warmed up well enough and speed is usually above 80kmph. It also happens a lot more often with warmer temperature.

Anyone else noticed this issue?

The dealer can't find anything and they say it's "normal"... it's certainly the opposite and get's extremely annoying on any commute more than 30min long.

The sound is very audible and it's extremely annoying.

Hoping for some input and guidance, where possible.

Definitely not a normal thing. I have the exact same car, not experiencing anything mildly related to that. Maybe it's the rubber on the edge of your doors? There's a tiny "whistle" coming through the door at high speeds in my car. But I only hear it if I'm listening for it when there's a gap in the music.

I have 2015 mazda 3 gs (auto) too.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't believe it's related to door noise, it most certainly sounds more electronic than wind. A quick search online shows some skyactiv CX5/Mazda6 users reporting the same thing but not much progress on what it actually may be.

Considering the whine occurs only at or above 80kph, I would not consider an electrical issue as electrical issues usually occur at any or all speeds; For instance alternator whine due to a bad ground or harness break will occur at any rpm, even at idle...My first thought was it could be a tire issue.

Also occurs on my winter tires so I am not yet convinced it's tires.

By electronic, I meant it sounds more like a faint dog whistle or a faint high pitch sound.

Some internet solutions came down to replacing the entire transmission or replacing axle seals.. without a clear direction, the dealer doesn't know any better.

Thought it might have been more common on TM3 given the threads on other websites related to CX5/MZ3/6.

Thanks for your input.

Interesting. Now I am hearing it at 60kmph and onwards.

Happens very easily once the car is warmed up (30min+)

It's quiet at anything below 60kmph and the noise comes right away at 60kmph.
