Redline mt90 in cold weather

I'm due for an MTF change soon and I have 3 quarts of mt90 laying around for my car but I just wanna know how it is in cold weather. Is it gonna grind when cold? Stiffer shifting? If anyone knows what redline mt90 is like in cold weather pls let me know. Thanks all.

I found it to be pretty stiff trying to get it into first gear. Grinding from 1-2 was ok as long as you babied the shifts when cold. I now use Motul Motylgear 75w90 (available at subaru) and I find it to be a far superior product. If you've got it laying around, use it, just be nice on it for the first 20 mins in the super cold.

I had MT90 and it's a bit thicker than whatever stock oil was in there before. Once the engine warms up there is really no diff.

I found the XT fluid from Ford has been a nicer compromise.

Oh also, I found double clutching from 1-2-3 helps a lot when its cold to avoid some of the classic Mazdaspeed grinding sound :) (also goes into gear easier)

So I was getting this and I just chalked it up to the cold weather. On the weekend my slave cylinder on the clutch gave up the ghost

After getting it replaced, even when it was -10C out it was shifting into 1st and 2nd waaaaay better.

Maybe related, maybe placebo effect but I had actually noticed the noise seemed worse lately than I remembered it. Perhaps early sign of wear.

I got Mt90. Paid way to much for that cheap oil didn't see any difference from stock oil, in low temp the gears feel like they are frozen and I shift in slow mode from 1 to 2 to avoid grinding. (Mazda 3 2010 gt)

Not worth it.

I've been using Redline 75w90ns in mine for years now. Only in extreme cold temps I would still get slightly stiff shifting, first to second, but I found letting her warm up a few minutes before driving off eliminates the issue.

I'm guessing the grinding issue differs from car to car because mine doesn't grind 1st to second when cold it's just very stiff and spongey feeling. But once warmed up the shifter feels very smooth and takes the crunchy feeling out.
