Hope some of you guys can help me. Ill try to make a long story short. Bought a mazda 3 2013 gx few years back. A year ago started having this clunking noise (under the hood on the drivers side, seems way below the battery but its kind of hard to locate it) when going slow over bumps. Went to the dealership, they didnt find anything, went to another shop, still nothing, in the meantime changed front end links, sway bar bushings, shocks and the mounts, checked motor mounts and still was having the damn clunking. Today went to another reputable shop to see if they could diagnose the issue, they said it was the end links which i changed 30,000 km ago. I thought (because they are a reputable shop) maybe they know something better than i do and the end links went bad again. Asked for their price, $340 with install, went to the car parts store in the city, bought moog end links for $60 on sale, replaced them myself in less than an hour and the damn noise still persisted. I have no idea where to look more.
Any suggestions???

Did you ever inspect the lower control arm bushings or balljoint?

Its pretty typical for them to go on the 3s

More than likely ball joints. The ball joint clunk presents itself similar to an end-link noise (ie, when it's offloading the weight on rebound). I chased around tirelessly on my 2010 looking for clunks and they were the culprit.

BTW, I have a brand new set of Dorman control arms (our generation) for sale in the classifieds :) Give me a buzz if you're interested!
