Hey all,

Have a 2013 mazda 3 GS-sky with 100,000km on it.

I'm finding that the mirror on the drivers side (just the mirror, not the housing) seems to vibrate quite a bit. Also, when using defrost, it takes FOREVER for the drivers side to clear - the passenger side clears very quickly.

Anyone else ever have this issue.

There is a MAP on my car (for another 20,000km) but when looking at it, it says side mirrors are not covered.

Just wondering if there was an known issue relating to this.

Thanks
dave

the mirror may have been unclipped from the motor and maybe the heating element has gone bad... you can pull out the glass to inspect it... the steps are covered in the shop manual

I have found the pan/tilt gears/motors of these mirrors to be really cheesy in their construction. A couple of good pushes by hand, or old age seem to make them jiggle a lot during driving. Because the glass is vibrating so much, the wires going to the heating elements could be slightly damaged, causing increased resistance in the wires and thus, less power going to defrosting the mirror. If it bugs you that much, replace the whole mirror unit.
