Hi.

I have the GT tire size, so current size is 215/45/18. I shopped for winter tires, and popular 17 replacement size was 205/50/17. Then Allen from simplytire said 215/50/17. So that's what I got. is this the right size? (i know most ppl go 16", but i wanted 17 for the added surface area)

Allen from simply tire knows his shit. So if that’s the size he recommends then yes it’s right

There's not much difference between the sizes, you wouldn't even notice it.

LOL....The 300+ bhp WRC Rally cars wear 205/60-15 in winter rally in Monaco and Sweden. It's the narrow and tall, not wide and low, that gives better traction and grip in the snow and ice. Btw, that is the same size snow tires that the 600 bhp Audi Sport quattro S1 E3 wore in the glorius Group B day.
