Is it common to change the tranny filter on an automatic or is a tranny fluid flush good enough?

Car: Mazda 3 2012 GT automatic

Changed my AT oil filter & pan on my 2004 for the first time last year. Cost was about $45 Pan & $90 Filter.

If you plan to keep the car for awhile, go for it.
