Tonight is the night, public unveil of the new 3. Anyone else planning to watch the live stream ?
I am very interested to see the release. This release is going to set the tone not just for the Mazda3 but other Mazda products in the near future.

I have to see some more profiles of the cars, but the sedan seems to be better looking this time around.

I was expecting the body to be drastically changed. Every generation of the 3 has looked completely different.

SkyActiv-X engine won't arrive until the end of 2019 so likely not until the 2020 model year. The 2019 models will carryover the existing engines.

The 2.5L is coming first and is rated at 186hp/186lb-ft. I would think sometime early next year.
It is nice to see the dual exhaust tips on the sedan as well now.

Is the manual transmission getting phased out? Someone who has access to US inventory mentioned that the manual can only be ordered on the Hatch and then only in the top trim. Is anyone able to confirm what trims in Canada will be offered with the manual?

Fewer people every day that want a manual transmission.

Not a 2018 ? There will be a significant price difference between the cars and a significant wait time. If the price and delivery time frame are non issues then wait. If you want the car in the next two maybe three months, buy now.

ooo i sure hope they take the next step and offer the 2.5 turbo in the car. even if its auto that and awd would be wicked. "speed3" or not 255 hp from that turbo and awd would be awesome if it got better fuel economy then the subi wrx.

Hey! I'm buying a used one, sport GT 2017 with 30.000 kilometers, 19.999 CAD. I'm new in the Mazda world, I'm seeing there is little depreciation between the 2015 and 2017. My concern is a big depreciation in my 2017 with the new model coming, but I need the car now and cannot find anything better in my budget.

That may be true, but it goes against Mazda's philosophy. i.e ; Drivers car, or Driver and auto as one, or Driving Matters etc;
The direction of the automotive industry as a whole is looking pretty sad from real enthusiast's points of view, it seems.

The sedan looks fantastic. I like the hatch too, but the fat c-pillars are a bit of a turn-off.
My biggest fear is that AWD will only be available when mated to the 6AT (as is the case with the CX-3)... That would be crushingly disappointing. I'd much prefer to buy a Mazda3 with AWD and 6MT than an Impreza.
If I can't get AWD+6MT together, I'll probably just wait for their EV w/rotary-extender. That way if I'm stuck with an automatic I can at least get the benefits of an EV/PHEV.

The sedan looks awesome. I hope the MT is available in a GS or GT sseda.
Also nice new forum theme and banner. Simple.
Sedan looks amazing. The C pillar look weird on the hatch, maybe it's just the angle in the picture
Bring back the MS3...

Updated our branding to mirror Mazda's branding. cwp_sedan did the heavy lifting on the forum update.

According to info on another forum it looks like Mazda Canada will not be offering the 2019 Mazda3 with a manual transmission option. I hope this is not true.

Some additional dimension details.
https://www.goauto.com.au/news/mazda/mazda3/la-show-mazda3-rsquo-s-split-personality/2018-12-03/76685.html
While Mazda is yet to confirm interior dimensions and cargo capacity for the new Mazda3, Mr Tsuchida said the hatch’s new roofline has meant a loss of 2cm of rear headroom and the cargo capacity is also slightly down, while the sedan’s boot space is up.
