I received a 7x16 Yellow Film (https://secure4.websitecomplete.com/films/shop/showProd.asp?prod=102) from Lamin-X (http://www.lamin-x.com/), cut out two 8x7.5cm oval-shape film and put them on the fogs a few days ago. They have pre-cut size for our fogs for a tonnie less. I went for 7x16 because its good for 3-4 pairs, in case I didn\\\'t do a good job. Installation is pretty easy, just followed the instruction on the website.
The yellowish output cannot compare to Lexus\\\' IS300 or GS300/400. But for $25US shipped, I\\\'d say it\\\'s not bad.
I tried my best to adjust the pics to match with the real stuff. Here they are:

I like it, it saves you hundreds of dollars getting the yellow JDM fogs. They also have optic blue sheets for the HID look.

haha, I wish I have HID by now ... I hope my kit is on the way to Devin for me to pick up ... I tried to lower the bluish with photoshop without affecting everything else. I hope my HID kit will look something like this :D Also, the film adds protection to the fog lense. It\'s thicker than I thought, ~ 0.5mm.

weird.. i can see them now too..
they look pretty hype.. although i\'d have to see them in person as i already got messed up by buying something based on the pix.. :(
EDIT: do you know how easy it would be to remove them? (in case i don\'t like them)
also, did you cut them out first or did you apply and trip with an exacto?

According to Lamin-X\'s website:
Can the film be removed without damage?
Lamin-x film can be easily removed without damage to the light or original paint. Upon initial application, the film can be pulled back up and reapplied numerous times if not installed correctly. The film and adhesive is flexible enough for this. Once the film is settled (appx 48-72 hours) the product is not re-appliable.
I measured the width & height of the lense and printed the oval shape from computer. Tested with the template (paper) first, then cut out the film and put them on. I\'d to remove the first one and trimmed it becuase it\'s a bit too big.
I may sell the remaining film, each good for a pair, around $7-8, if anyone is interested.;)

yeah, i like the look of them a lot!!!
i put them on and they look great. one question though. did you havea lot of bubbles after your application? it seems like it didn\'t set in properly in a few areas. I just stuck them on dry (after cleaning the lens)
oh and also i used a 730x770 ellipse template. fit is pretty good except i kinda off-centered one of them. but you can\'t see from away. Oh well, It worked out pretty well :D

There were some bubbles after my installation. Most of them were gone after the first day or two. I did the wet method and used dryer to dry the vinyls. Dryer did help to kill some bubbles.
Make sure the vinyl is big enough to cover the lense such that only yellow light fires off when fog\'s on ;)
where do you get the templates??

my bubbles looke like raspberries (lots of TINY - tip of a pin - bubbles clumped together) but really they aren\'t noticable once the light is on.
I did the dry method but i also had my fogs ON while installing so the surface was warm/hot, not sure if that had any adverse effect on it? :sarc The vinyl covers the etire front area of the fog, there is a narrow ring of white light coming from the side of the fog that is unreachable from the front (with a finger) but you can\' tell from 6 feet or so.
al01 - just use photoshop or paintshop pro and draw an ellipse of the above dimensions (770mmx730mm), print it and cut it out and see how it fits (adjust as needed)
i believe mine will come sometime this week :D :D :D

i do (took some tonight) but they just don\'t really show off the lights (or any lights - HIDS/interiors for that matter)
but if you want i\'ll upload some frm work tomorrow and show you
EDIT: ok here they are.. the problem is .. background lighting is YELLOW and the flash makes the snow SUPER white..
you can definately see the yellow on the ground and the foreground is lit by the flash so a nice contrast

here you can see the comparison b/w stock lowbeams and the yellow fogs
http://xs37.xs.to/pics/05286/IMG_9774.jpg
once again.. fg is UBER white (due to flash) yet the fogs make the snow look yellow :D

no flash shot.. you can see the 2tone snow.. from low beams and yellow fogs..

Those overlays look great! Another good thing about them is that they protect the foglight lens from road debris. So how long did it take for them to arrive? I was looking at their site and it showed an overlay for the headlamps too. Since I\'m on a budget and can\'t afford HID\'s I\'m gonna order the optic blue film and try them.

hmm.. i dunno how cops will like that one, would it be legal? and by getting the blue one with stock halogens you\'ll decrease your light output. i don\'t think it\'s too wise :( you\'d be better off getting the silverstars for 50bux or so if that\'s the budget.

Mine took about a week to arrive. Yes, the film is thick enough to protect the lens from debris :) . But, same as Majic\'s adivce, cops may after you for the blue film :sarc

umm.. oops ;)
u need to talk to chaser (vince), very nice guy and when you see his fogs/hids in person you\'ll start crying :p they are so nice :D and who\'d think they\'d look good on a TiGrey :D j/k 1) he\'s actually the one who has left overs (2 sheets at the time i talked to him, so he should have one more left) and 2) he\'s in markham, much closer to you
install is pretty easy once you get the right size and i was being quite anal with the fit, but i du have a template if u want (in paintshop pro or photoshop) so you can print and cut the right size. for the install, i did the dry method (they suggest wet for large applications) and i peeled part of the laminate off stuck it on the left most side of the fog light and peeled the rest like a band-aid and then smoothed out with my old drivers licence. as i mentioned b4, some bubbles were formed, but meh, you can\'t tell from afar. (i haven\'t checked yet if those bubbles are gone [it\'s been a wek now])
i ordered it like a week ago.. still havnt arrive yet :(

i dunno if it was a placebo effect but today when all the snow was blowing around and the visibility was limited, the yellow fogs seemed to give me a greater viewing area (forward and to the sides) maybe i hever experienced it with regular fogs but i think i saw more with them being yellow.. :hoho :sarc
yayy... finally got my films today :p i hv to leave them till warmer days.. too damn cold to do anything :(

My brother used lamin-x on his hella fogs and this is what he got:

what is it?? all i see is snow and light?
Dr Butcher
01-27-2005, 04:35 PM
Look closely at the middle of the lens, a nice toasty spot. :)
Lamin-x was kind enough to send replacement film to him though. At least they stand by their product.
chaser
01-27-2005, 05:41 PM
So, the film was toasted? Does your brother has high wattage bulbs? However, the lens shouldn\'t be that hot to burn the film in this cold weather, even if he has 100W bulbs ... strange :sarc
Dr Butcher
01-27-2005, 06:07 PM
He used some aftermarket superwhite H3 55W bulbs which had the same rating as the original Hella fog bulbs. When he showed the guys at Lamin-x they said they\'d never seen anything like it and sent him some new film. I think he\'s just going to peel it off when the weather warms up because the new stuff will do the same. What you see in the pic was after a week of driving in -20ish weather, he just had the fogs instsalled last week after his first set broke when a rock hit one of the lenses. Which is why he used the Lamin-x in the first place.

uhmm..the H3s look brighter than 55W...maybe the $1.99 product doesn\'t really state what it is ;)
Off topic: the angeleye fogs look nice but too dim (before he replaced the bulbs):D

is there a reason why you didn\'t just get a yellow tinted bulb? (not necessarily JDM, but they do exist at Pacific Mall and stuff)
cuz, the film (IMO) looks out of place during the day. It doesn\'t match with anything.
I\'m not saying that yellow fogs are bad in anyway, but during the day when they aren\'t on, it looks a little off... as if the plastic is fading and turning colours.
Oh, and one last thing, al01: what kind of 6000K kit did you get? your left bulb seems to have a yellow spot on it (near the centre of the two beams).

Oops... I guess I was distracted by the pics :P My bad... I stand corrected :sarc
xtec 6000k, lol that yellow spot, i just stick some yellow film on it n see what color it will become
whats a break in period?
I believe he is referring to the 30 seconds it takes for the HIDs to warm up into their true colour.
umm.. for my 6000k.. i turn on my car.. the light just goes crazy n changes color for like 1 sec.. (changes from blue to purple to white in 1 sec)... then its white..... i only seee very little purple
