Hello!

Looking at options for winter tires.. Stock on my car is 215/45r/18. I’ve seen a few posts about 205/60/16, and honestly with the price difference, I like the sounds of that size. Wondering if I run those, will my tpms light stay on? How much will my speedometer be off? 17” rim would be fine too, just not sure how to appropriately adjust tire size. Would love some shared experience or suggestions! Thank you :):):)

Go with 16's, speedometer will be off slightly. Tpms will.likely stay on.

At the dealer I was very surprised the 16s fit. Our GT doesn't have TPMS though :(

Oh maybe mine doesn’t either haha I guess I’ll find out! Is that the size you went with? 205/60/16?

We didnt purchase them. But calling your local Mazda parts dealer will tell you. The packages they're giving out for the stock tire are all 16 inch.

Too bad the link doesn't tell the alternate sizes that will fit. 1010tires is another site: https://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/2014/Mazda/3/4-Dr-Sedan-GT/215-45R18-89W/127637?diameter=16

I was comparing a few sizes, trying to find the closest to original on the offset section.. found 215/55/16 to be closest I think. Guess I could really go with either then? Had no idea there were so many options for size.

I've been using that size exclusively for years with my snows, the speedo difference is negligible.

Snow tires are supposed to be tall and narrow not short and wide. Narrow tires frontal section will cut thru the deep snow and ruts easier than wider tires. Wide snow tires will snowplaning in deep snow. Either size 205/60-16 or 205/65-16 is good.
