Hi ANyone have any experience with this code. I got this code and want to figure out if I go straight to replacing the he Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) canister purge volume control solenoid valve or if there is anything I should be looking at before buying the part.

If anyone has solutions, diagnostic suggestions or experience dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have already tried the following:
Check Gas cap (cleared codes) it came back
Check Hoses for wear and tear (nothing loose)

Symptoms:
Terrible gas mileage
Check Engine Light persistent even after clearing it

I've never had the P0444 code, but I have had the p0443 code which are very similar. In my case it was the PSV which I changed out twice. The third time I got the code, I just left it alone, as it only gives me issues once in a blue moon. I get a rough start like twice a year and that's it, I'm not experiencing excessive fuel consumption and the code doesn't come back when I clear it. Its possible you have a wiring issue, which takes some time to check and diagnose. You can try changing the PSV first and if the code persists, then you know you have another issue.

Are you sure its not a P0442 code?

I think its P0442 lol

He said he checked his gas cap, although the gas cap could be bad and he wouldn't know how to tell. Also a bad gas cap would be unlikely to cause very poor fuel economy.

Both P0444 and P0443 are Evaporation Control system codes.

PCV are known to be an issue also with these cars.
