Hey guys, I live in the GTA area. I recently bought an 07 mazda 3 gt with 280k km on it but it has some issues that may prevent me from safetying the car.
Issue 1: Custom muffler/exhaust: Is there a cheap way I can get the stock one put in? I'm even willing to give the shop the custom exhaust if it saves me money. The guy I bought it from gave me the stock parts.
Issue 2: Wheel is off centre. I think it could be an alignment issue?
Issue 3: ODB2 codes show car is running too lean. Could this because of the exhaust?
If anyone in the GTA know of a good / reliable and cheap mechanic that would be great. I just care about driving this car from point a to b.

Also, I'm not sure how much its going to cost to fix all that (plus insurance, plus safety certification etc) or am I better off scrapping it?

There is Jimmy at Street Performance in Markham who specializes in Mazda's
My local go to in Scarborough is Gilman Auto - ask for Raymond .
I am not 100% sure but i think they both can do a safety inspection.
Issue one - Does custom exhaust has a Cat? And changing it to stock parts should be easy
Issue two - get a 4 wheel alignment
Issue three - Which code ? - a bank 1 O2 sensor that is faulty of old can trigger a lean because its faulty and cannot read the voltage correctly.
Lean - could be from a fuel pump/ dirty fuel filter / dirty injectors and a few other reasons

Aslong as you have the cat on your exhaust none of those issues will prevent the car from being certified. But ofcourse you still want to fix the issues of alignment and the lean running.
