Hello everyone,
I have bought my 2011 mazda 3 a while ago and now I am considering doing an engine swap with 2.3L turbo from mazdaspeed 3. I have not bought the engine yet but I have a couple of questions regarding the swap:
1- I understand there is no need for a new harness to hook up the engine. is this the case for both gen 1 and gen 2 mazdaspeed 3 engines?
2- my transmission is 6 speed (G66M-R) which is different that mazdaspeed 3's transmission (A26M-R). does that I mean I need a mazdaspeed 3 transmission as well or is the engine compatible with my transmission? What is the difference between the two transmissions?
3- what things are to look for in the mazdaspeed engine before buying one? how did you manage to do the swap?
4- I have heard that people use the block from MZR-L5-VE Engine combined with the 2.3L DISI Turbo one. is this true?
if anyone has done the swap (specfically from Gen 1 mazdaspeed 3 to gen 2 Mazda 3 2.5). what did you do generally? are there specific parts you had to order? if you can guide me with the procedure I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance everyone.
