I just love when cars have tires just bulging in the fenders maxxed out to the fullest potential.

I don\'t think they will fit on the 3 (the front at least) because of the unusually high stock offset. Most 7.5\" wide rims will already be pushing the limits of fender clearance.

What is the stock offset on the 3? Im pretty sure I can fit 8\'s with no problems if I were to run a little stretch on the rubber so for instance I would have a 17x8 with a 205/40/17 wrapped around them. Im just not sure what offset to get the rim in. My boyfriend managed to fit 8\'s under an 86 gti which has much smaller wheel wells and there are no problems. So it seems weird to me that I wouldnt be able to fit an equally wide rim under my car.

Stock offset is 52.5, while 48-50mm should be optimal for a 7.5\" wide rim.

7.5\" rim with a +50 offset (what I have) is pretty near the limits of fitting properly (there are lots of people that will tell you that 42 will fit fine - that is, if you want the rims to stick out past the fenders). 7.5\" with +50mm will be level with the front fender (the back seems to have quite a bit more clearance).

Apparently RX-8 rims are 8\" with a +50 offset and fit, but I\'m not sure how much they will stick out, if at all.
