Please help the newbee. I\'ve been thinking of painting the engine cover( receiving great incentive from those who have already completed the task).CT had the best selection however high heat paint falls into 3 catagories..engine enamel, high heat and caliper paint, are these all safe for the purpose proposed?

i would say high heat, since you\'re not going to be spraying the valve cover directly (so no engine enamel) and they aren\'t calipers..
BTW welcome to the Forum!

Thx Junior for the response. I know a couple of people have painted their covers but the specifics were a bit brief. Your guidance is appreciated. When I talked to the guy at CT he felt engine enamel and high heat paint were basically the same thing. Yes I relize caliper paint is for calipers but I was questioning if basically they were all the same ie., high heat paints just packaged differently. Who knows maybe it\'s just my old age skeptisism coming into play here. I was trying to match colors poosibly doing engine cover and calipers with same blue, but of course no such luck with that. Your feedback would be appreciated. Cheers, rich

i suppose if you wanted to mkae sure that the blue of your calipers and the engine cover were the exact same, then YEA use the same stuff ... they both will experience high-heat so they should stay fairly nicely... BUT ... i don\'t know if there is anything specific with regards to the caliper paint staying/sticking to the plastic engine cover ... maybe something you could read off the label before beginning the task.
Iin my honest opinion though, will you be showing your car at shows and what not, to have you\'re engine exposed at the same time that your calipers will be showing? I mean if the colours don\'t match 100% do you think someone will notice?
Best thing I could suggest would be to find out if that caliper paint would stick PROPERLY to that plastic surface and then go from there..
