Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
I say go for the Bravia. Thats only because i don't like LG products.. I will be getting the Hp laptop from FS.

Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
im assuming both can connect to a comoputer, as their specs say they connect via vga..or should i be looking for somethign with a diff connection method? im eventually buying a HD vid card...do HD vid cards have those hdmi or whatever ports on them, so i can connect this way?
-
Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
I was looking into a higher end sharp and they were using DVI-I to hook up to pcs...
I'm more interested in that 50 inch Plasma Pioneer.

There are many ways to connect a computer with an HDTV. HD video cards come with a DVI port. There are cables that have HDMI to DVI connections to connect your computer to your tv. This is most common way to do it. If you use vga connections the quality will not be as good.
Whatever you do, do not by the cables at big box retailers like future shop or best buy. These cables will run you $80 to $160 before tax. You can purchase these cables from factorydirect.ca for much cheaper.

Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
yeah i noticed that about cables, they arent price friendly at the big box stores...
thanks for the info, did a bit of researchin and the vid cards im lookin at come with a dvi to hdmi adapter to connect the pc to hdtv...so all i would need is the hdmi cable
another probably common sence question...the hdmi cables bring audio and video signals in one cable...so does this mean that ill also be bringing audio to the tv from the video card aswell (it doesn't sound right to me...but im still new to teh whole HD experience)?
that said, once an hd vid card is connected, that means everything is sent in HD format to the tv(windows, any movies that im playing, videos, etc?)

Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
if you used the DVI to HDMI adaptor, you will lose audio and other HDMI features such as automatic screen format conversion and remote control
-
Re: Official Boxing day Thread...Flyers are out!!
For inexpensive HDMI cables, also check CanadaComputers.com and princess auto.

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
I won't be braving the elements. There are a few small items I want. If I can get them online great. If not, no problem, life goes on.

You're not hardy like us in the prairies where its - 15'C now. People will camp out in the parking lots the nite before Boxing Day just to save a few bucks.

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
Will there be line ups at FS 6 in the morning?? I'm planning on goin early for a laptop.
-
Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
There were a few interesting items that are supposed "door crashers", where they wouldn't be available online. Forecasting for low of -8 that day, so it wouldn't be too too bad... I've braved worse :P

6? If you plan on getting what you want, best be going a lot earlier than that... I remember camping outside a bestbuy with some friends at 3:30AM and still not being the first 10 inside.

Line ups start at around 11 or 12 on the 25/26 at most FutureShops, by the time 6 AM rolls around you'll have a nice view of the line in front of you.

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
Are you effin kidding me? I thought we can reserve online at FS for store pickup.

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
you guys are insane! is it really worth it to freeze you a$$ off all night just to save even a couple hundred bucks??????? I'm sure the sales will be going for more than just a day and maybe the discounts won't be as aggressive, but at least you won't have to sacrifice your sleep and comfort for it.
personally, i refuse to shop at any time around christmas season before or after. the line-ups just drive me insane. I'd rather pay a little extra, but avoid the insanity of the holiday shopping crowd.

I work in the cold 8 hours a day, wake up at 5 am every morning. I would definitely wait in line for a few hours for a couple hundred dollar savings. Think of how many packs of smokes you can buy with the money you saved from waiting in line. LOL!

Re: Boxing Day: Who will be braving the elements?
lol
i'd prolly smoke just as much while i'm waiting to keep myself warm!
