SSA75 - SSP75 "aka" door lock issue

I have not had a break in but contacted Mazda of Toronto service about the door lock kit.(Monday Jan 7)
They didn't know anything and directed me to Mazda Canada.
Talked to Gyro Mazda and they had all the info.
They said Mazda has the kits and will contact me about installing it.
So I called Mazda Canada and they are ordering the kit and sending it to Gyro .
Also, until March1, Mazda will rebate $100 if you have an alarm system installed with a shock sensor.
Of course, the first thing they said was that there isn't a defect in the car!
Whatever...
Anyway, at least Mazda is willing to do something.

I'd like to know how much the "fix" will cost with installation and how long it will take. Please post up when you get the details.

is there anymore information on the $100 rebate? i'm going to guess it only applies for mazda alarms and not aftermarket ones?

i think i'm going to get the kit installed if i can on my 07.

Does the kit come with instructions? I will probably install it myself if it does.

The dealer, of your choice, installs the door kit at no charge.
As far as I understand, the alarm doesn't have to come from Mazda.

It's free. Called mazda canada asked for this part. Sent it to the dealer and dealer installed it for free. That easy!!

I have been in talks with someone as well about this topic and the recall is true as KeithB said. I believe it is just being addressed as we speak and that all effected vehicles will be receiving a letter from Mazda personally. From what I understand, it will not be completed unless your have authorization from Mazda Canada in the form of a letter.

I will be calling them first thing tomorrow.

Good news!

I just called them and the customer service rep confirmed that we will all be receiving a letter in a month which details the whole process of getting this done.

She said it is not a recall - it is a customer satisfactory thing.

It is free of charge. You just have to make an appointment when you get the letter.

Also, the dealerships do not have the parts yet, but they are being sent out.

Good to hear, I guess the squeeky wheel gets the oil eh?

Honestly, I don't understand why we would get a rebate at all. Why do they owe us money? They're upgrading the car.

maybe they figure to give us the refund, as an apology or as an incentive to have upgraded the system on our own?? just a thought
