CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
Okay, so I went to pick up some groceries (about 5 minute drive) - start up, no problem, get there, no problem. Go to leave and no throttle response!! If I floored it I could get it to about 2000rpm - check engine light comes on.
Turn it off thinking I got slush or water up the CAI - filter looked, felt dry, no snow in there. Go back, strat up car, throttle working, but check engine light still on. Tried the gas cap thing. Wondering if it's CAI-related (my guess). Will see if it is still onand take her in. Anyone experience a temporary loss of throttle response?
(Only mods, CPe CAI, TWM STS, Engine mount, gas tank just undr 1/2 full)

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
Get someone with a dashhawk or cobb access port to check the cel code. The light wont go away on itself.

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
Went to Scarboro Mazda this morning - unfortunately, I forgot the code that they told me, but it had to do with the air sensor - possibly set off with a combination of cold weather, short driving trip to store, CAI, etc. They reset it for me, checked everything else, hoisted the car for me too as I was worried that the R rear shock was leaking (no problems).
Had me on my way in about 35minutes (all warranty). Was advised if it happens again, to bring the car in, reset it and try the stock air intake for the winter (just in case that was the problem).
Once again, great experience at Scarboro Mazda.

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
If you got a CEL because of your CAI and it's a CP-E unit, I'm surprise they offered to clear it the next time it comes up again. When I went in I was under the impression they ( scarboro ) doesn't like dealing with cars modded with non mazda parts. Guess your have better luck then me :chuckle

They didn't give me any hassle about it. I dunno, lucky, or maybe cause I'm a little older than some folks with mods? I'm not complaining either way :)
If they did give me a hassle (or do in the future) - I'll be going to Ajax for sure...

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
experienced it on a regular mazda 3 has a lose of signal from the pedal position sensor. unpluged the pedal during diagnosis, reconnected and had throttle response come back. customer didn't want to persue it further so I can't tell you what caused it.
the code should have been recorded on the work order. I know there are some issues with wiring to the maf sensor that create a lot of wired problems that don't seem like they should be connected. normally fixed with pulling out the terminals and soldering them. worst cases have internally broken wires.

I was just up there last week to get something checked out. I will probably be there again next week, but to meet up with steve at his shop.

TRUST ME, ITS WORTH THE DRIVE TO AJAX. I live waaaay downtown around ashbridges bay and it takes me around 40min to get there and yet I'm willing to make the trip. Service dept. is exellent, but make sure you ask for steve (tech) to work on your car.

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
still sounds like you have an issue. call and make an appt. make sure you tell them only steve looks at it

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
You can try getting up under your dash and following the gas pedal all the way to the top ... as Tech Aaron said there's a connector up there that snaps into place ... it may have come loose. It's pretty high up there so get a flashlight.

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
i think i have the same problem, happens at low rpm. IE when turning right, first gear is ok then when i hit 2nd it'll go dead all of a sudden and i'll be stranded in the middle of the street with cars flying to my a$$ and unable to go anywhere and hearing the stock bpv going pssh pssh pssh pssssh psssssh. Feels like DSC kicks in when there is snow.. but no snow. I let the gas completely off and step on it again and it usually works. The CEL is on so hopefully steve you can pull a code from it on friday.
I have mazdaspeed intake & stock everything, had the car for a year and never happened before.

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
Just registered and this is my first post.
Have had same issue with sporadic loss of throttle control starting back in July. Finally, after happening several times since then, had dealer check it out. The diagnostic report read, "P2119 throttle actuator control body range/performance problem. Check throttle body and AP with PID - all ok today, throttle opens and closes as commanded. Suspect throttle body starting to stick/seize intermittently". Quoted $750 to replace throttle body.
Has anyone had success in cleaning one of these?

Try cleaning it yourself first, if your comfortable. If you know how to remove the throttle body, then you're pretty much set.
Here's a couple of threads for you.

Lots more where that come from. :)

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
Bumping up an old thread, but mine just happened yesteday. Drove to the highschool few min away to Vote, then no throttle response after I come back. Restarted 2 times and it go backs to normal.
i have an AP so I scanned P2119 right away.
Mechanic said I may have to replace the actuator?
Anyone have similar experience recently?

Re: CEL Throttle issue Speed 3
I actually cleared that code today myself. Weird.
