Looking at getting a mazda 3
I am looking at buying a mazda 3 GX. I am an undergraduate student. Any advice on deals or good place to get a good deal. Also, I am looking at leasing the car.
Thanks

Buy used at a dealer and save yourself money while you are in school!

bad rep from people that didnt buy it there ....
aside from MOT all the other dealers have worst rep ...
anyhow i wouldnt buy a brand new 3 , aside from being ugly they are very expensive...
If you want to buy something new get a lancer ... Buddy of mine has one and its a beatiful car inside out ...

Paul Piasecki at Mountain Mazda in Hamilton. Far lower prices than most.

congrats man
lancer is a great car ... A lot better than the new 3...

Re: Looking at getting a mazda 3
The Lancer was my second choice but I really wanted the hatchback and the Sportback wasn't out yet at the time.
Lancer is a very solid chassis and great warranty.
EVO even more so awesome.

Re: Looking at getting a mazda 3
Its least the mitsu lancer doesnt have a bad rep about rust like 3 years old mazda3...
-
Re: Looking at getting a mazda 3
lancer was my 3rd choice behind the rabbit and 3... Im happy with the choice i made... most features for the price and the most fun to drive imo

In all fairness the current revision of the Lancer has only been on the market in North America for 2 years and 6 months.
I'd hate to be sounding 'defensive' but we simply don't yet know the long-term likelihood on this model!
But I agree the Mazda3 has rightfully developed a reputation for poor-rustproofing measures by Mazda.
Of the current crop of affordable compact cars (Civic, Corolla, Mazda3, Lancer, Jetta, SX4, Focus, Sentra, Forte, Elantra, Cobalt...). The only three that even remotely appeal to me are the Mazda3, Lancer and Forte. I wouldn't blame an individual for getting any of those on a pound-for-pound basis.
For a bit more on-topic theme. If you are purchasing new, talk to Jeff. If you want to take some risks buying a used car, Downsview has some tremendous prices. For myself I would only be looking at the 2007-2010 Mazda3s as previous editions are missing some features that I would consider extremely important.

+1 lovin the off-lease
Downsview has cheap cars - about 3-4G less than anywhere else you go
BUT - their C/S is garbage - and there isn't much room for negotiating
Also - where they get the cars from is a mystery - QC, ex-rentals, FUBARd trade-ins, etc.
And even with all the negativity on these boards- I considered buying my car from them. Just found a better deal elsewhere.
Just know what you are buying and where it came from - if you'reokay with it -go for it

agree , make sure you checked the car carefully before you buy it from downsview... I you can bring a mechanic do it.. Also they do allow dealers to inspect the car before they sell them so thats a plus
the negativity is just from people that did not buy their cars there .. so really i you didnt buy a car from there how can you give feedback ????
If you have the money then buy it from the dealer , however most dealers have bad rep , MOT seems to be the one with the best rep in ontario so i will go with them if i had the money..
I bought it from downsview and i had not issues with it and it seems to be that way from most of the people that actually BOUGHT THEIR CAR THERE...

Re: Looking at getting a mazda 3
I found Westowne sales to be very good. MOT is great too.

I bought my car there almost a year ago and have not had any issues.
I have a few friends that bought used from dealers and they have been money pits.

Re: Looking at getting a mazda 3
just bought a mazda 3 gt from downsview auto on sunday there service is crap and there cars look like they have been through hell, but they are very confident on their service which is what led me to buy from them. they fix all the problems with the car and give you a car that you would find from a dealership without the high cost. what also made me pruchase from themis that i talked to a guy who was picking up his that day and he allowed me to look in and out of his car and it was in mint condition. So if you are looking formazda 3 i recommend checking out downsview. they an alright policy as well which you leave a 500 deposit, they fix all the cosmetic and mechanica lproblems with the car then you testdrive it andif everythings ok then u take it

1) Service is crap
2) Cars look like crap
3) You need to leave a $500 to fix #2
Why not go to a dealership that has their cars and service right before you leave the $500?
Try MoT (Mazda of Toronto). If you are looking for a dealership that has the best service department, go to Agincourt mazda. Karen (Service manager) knows exactly how to treat her customers. She would never put her defensive shield up against our modded cars like most other dealers.

The mitsubishi paint is shitty. I had stone chips after 1000km's on my sideskirts. If anything their paint is worse than Mazda's

$3000? I've never hear stories about how Jeff from MoT overcharge people. Why are you being so defensive?
If you like lancer so much, why buy a 3? (I assume you do since you are on the forum) If so, why not sell it and buy yourself a lancer?

its not jeff overcharging people ... Its just the dealer price simple as that, nothing jeff can do about it unless he own the mazda dealer ... I did not buy a lancer because i couldnt afford it , i bought an 04 mazda 3 (2 years ago) .. New style lancers came out in 2006 so the 05 and 04 lancer that were around my budget were ugly compare to the mazda 3 ... If i sell my 3 i will get almost nothing for it and i still have to spend a few grands to get a lancer , which i dont have right now ...
However if i was in the market to buy a car now and i had somewhat 15 000 as my budget i will def get a lancer... period .. Follow close by the civic ... I wouldnt even consider the 2010 mazda 3 because they are pretty ugly
To be honest i ll rather buy an 09 mazda 3 than the 2010...
