In dash LED will not work

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 Mazda 3. Recently, when i turn on my head lights at night, the in dash led screen does not light up. Nor do the buttons on the in dash. So everything is dark and when i drive at night i cannot see the led indicators (time, track number etc)

When I turn off my head lights or turn the dial to its minimum, THEN i can see the in dash LED light up, but again not the in dash buttons.

When i go back to the head lights it the in dash does now light up! any cures for this issue?

could it be a fuse? how can i fix this?
