Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
the belt is probably slipping
Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
I have the exact same issue! Pretty much after each gear change (automatic transmission btw), I can hear that lound squeak. It also happens as you describe, when turning the AC on. It's much, much louder when driving. It's gets super annoying on the highway.
I got it checked by my dealership and they had to order two parts, and it's a known problem. There's a shield/cover for the AC pump and some other part that I can't remember. Both parts have been on back order for a month now and can't get any estimates on when they'll be available. The service manager at the dealership (Atlantic Mazda) blames the tsunami from back in March. I'm sure it did affect Mazda Japan at some point, but I doubt this is still a major issue...

Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
just found out there's actually a TSB for this problem in the 2010-2011s... it's not the belt but it's actually the A/C compressor clutch
updated parts are available... so go see your dealer and have them take care of this
Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
Yeah I read up on this a while back. My AC clutch is a loud SOB at times. Defly want to get it replaced before I'm off warranty....

Sorry what does TSB stand for? And is there a document online issued by mazda, stating this problem and that I could print off and bring to the dealership?

Technical Service Bulletin
Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
Great! I will get this looked at as soon as possible. I'll post how it turns out for those interested.
Re: Air Conditioning Squeek
Was any of you guys able to get this fixed? I had this diagnosed back on May 24th and 1 of the three parts required for the fixed is apparently still in Back Order from Japan, as per dealership. I find it hard to believe the tsunami is still affecting some parts production considering that new cars using the same pieces are still being made to this day...
Also, was anyone was able to find the the TSB number?
