Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
NEITHER! Sorry, I'm just soo sick of everyone doing gloss black everything. It's soo boring and over done. Do something different, something more fun. Do gloss white, or white CF, or matte white. Or Green. Who knows! Be original, be creative!

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
You could check out Chan7's ride. He has a 2010 aluminum mica sedan and has a black vinyl roof (glossy I think). Check it out and see if you like it. There are other silver or silverish cars out there with CF or black vinyl that could help with your decision. Hopefully other members can give you names. Personally I think it would look great!

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
cf is tacky IMO. if its real, then fine, whatever... but cf vinyl... mehh

White? Green? on silver?
I know your eye sight may not be the greatest, but you shall never decorate the interior of my house.
On topic: matte black

oh man i wish i was brave enough to do a green vinyl wrap on my roof..although i must admit i actually thought of doing something like that but with a different colour LOL...But i decided to keep the car to be subtle which is the main reason y im just going for the black finish...thanks for the input man..appreciate it. :)

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
I would go Matte Black tol....Glossy is too shiny IMO...
Think of it this way too...
Glossy - Shiny
Matte Black - Classy

Interestingly enough, I see the exact opposite way.
Glossy = classy, like a piano finish
Matte = cheap looking, like an uncoated spraycan finish
(above is obviously a generalization, I do like matte more than gloss in some cases, for example valences often look better in matte black)

Agree. But in the end, it doesn't matter what anyone else says. Tacky, green, white, it's up to you to decide as long as you like it.

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
I say get it done! Get a mini meet going and do the comparison yourself!
-
Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
I vote Glossy.
And yea, CF vinyl is lame in my opinion.

i have a graphite mica hatch with black 3m controltrac. it is a special type of vinyl, and the finish, depending on lighting and cleanliness can look matte when its dirty or somewhat glossy when waxed (but with a dull reflection). and because of the air channel system (making it very easy to apply and take off it you mess up) built into the vinyl, it has diamond texture (noticeable up close) as result that looks like real cf weave (not the tacky 3m white / black checker board pattern).
i would recommend matte for a subtle and refined look on dark colours like grey, silver etc. glossy only works on cwp and red imo.
you can check out my car if your in the area or when im in markham next week.

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
Vinyl wrapping a roof black in any black texture seems to be a european oriented thing, with many models even coming out of the factory like that.
I was thinking about doing it to my ride but debate whether I am confusing my cars heritage and making it ricey (since it might not supposed to be there)
What do you guys think?

yea your right lots of european cars do come with the black roof straight from the factory....but for me ive always liked the look of the black roof especially on white cars...makes a really good "accent piece" for the car...makes the car stand out a bit more but not too much....and it about being "ricey" that will all depend on who your asking....everyone has a different perception on what "rice" is ...plus even if ppl call it ricey it shouldnt even matter cuz ultimately its your car...if u like the look of something on your car then thats all that matters...:)

I completely agree. Coming from a european car background I feel as if it should only be native to european cars and so I was wondering if others felt that way too. If they did, I knew that my car's identity might have been compromised (hence rice) even despite that I think that it looks soooooooo good on a lot of cars haha
The only part that bugs me with our cars is the fact that the vinyl wrap will only reach 98% of the front windshield...leaving the tiny gaps on the sides. Lucky 2010 owners, it touches it completely lol

thats very good info thanks!!! i didnt even realized that!! thanks again :)

Re: glossy black or cf vinyl on roof and spoiler!!!!
haha you're welcome, I like to nit pick at that sort of thing :p If it's going to accent the car, it has to flow properly in my books lol

izoom, vinyl wrapping should not cost more then $200 for a roof, well at least that's what I've been quoted at from my local shops. Although I'm from montreal :P
