R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
About two weeks ago I got into a bad accident on the 401 going west by Bayview. Here is my short story.
It was a Saturday, and the weather took a turn for the worst. Being the caution driver that I am, I was taking my time to get home as the snow fell and the roads became bad. Now, I don't know if this driver (in a dark grey Corolla) was checking their blind spots.. . but he/she suddenly started to come over into my lane.. .fearing I would hit them, I pumped my breaks.
HORRIBLE MISTAKE
My front tires started to lose grip/wheels spinning, my car started sliding to the right, and I don't think the other driver knew what was happening behind them. I managed (by God's grace) to slide through two other lanes, missing other vehicles (or other vehicles missing me), and slammed into the separator (between the express and collectors). Air bag deployed hitting me in the face, my knee jamming into the steering wheel, then this overwhelming smell of burnt dust… .opening my eyes I thought I could of died.
My car, Maxine, died that day. When I first got her, I took pictures just to post on torontomazda3.com. Links to the thread can be found below.

Now I believe it's appropriate that I post her obituary here on torontomazda3.com. Pictures after the fatal accident can be viewed below.

Thanks… things could of been worst! was able to limp away with back and neck pains, started physiotherapy this past week.
Looking for any year Gen 1, maybe a Gen 2 is reasonably priced.

i dont think thats what that quote means lol but it sure boomed into OPs face. man that sucks haaard to have this happen. thank god your alright and doing well. this could have gotten a lot worse really fast. if you notice any pain or soreness, GO TO THE DOCTOR immediately. even extremely minor symptoms can return in the future as permanent disabilitating pain.
remember the movie flubber? where weebo dies and they end up getting Weebette? kinda like this, you can always get another car, a maxette. but not another life.

Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Don't want to sound like an ass, but did you have winter tires?
Because I know in Ontario its not mandatory and everytime I drove on the 401 and there was a little bit of snow, everybody starts slowing down to ridiculous low speeds and many cars end up in ditches
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Sorry about what happened and really sorry about the car. Good to know that you are okay and that is what matters.
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Sorry to hear about this man, I think the other terrible thing about this is that now your insurance will go up because of the Corolla driver's ignorance. Karma Houdini, man.
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Hey Guys,
Thank you for your concerns. I'm taking it easy over this holiday break.

My car was all stock.. . to me it didn't really make any sense to mod it the way I wanted unless I had a Speed.

Yes, I had on brand new winter tires… purchased from tires23. I was driving safely, maybe around 55-60km.. .its crazy how I was able to avoid all other cars on the road at that time.
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Wow. Thats crazy. Well I hope you feel better!!
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
sorry about your loss, and its good that you got out of it relatively unscathed
hopefully you get another car of your liking soon
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Sorry about Maxine. I always hate those people that cause accidents and they get off scot-free.
Let us know how you're feeling and what your next ride will be.
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
Sorry about the accident and glad you are okay. I'm selling my gen 1 04 mazda3 dirt cheap due to mileage is so high. I'm parting out as we speak. Hoping to sell by late march
Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)

Re: R.I.P Maxine (2007 Mazda GT)
How did the insurance work out? Forgiven? Not at fault?

as long as my police report says i was cut off by an unknown third party… my adjuster would give it a not at fault accident. JUST waiting on that.
