2008.5 CWP MS3 - leifmadsen
After kicking around for the last 8 months, I suppose we're getting close to the time I should start up a ride thread :)
2008.5 MS3 in CWP. Lightly modded to stage 1+. Nothing too crazy here. Definitely a fun car to drive around. I had a 2006 MZ3 GT and a 2010 MZ3 GT. Really happy with the extra power the MS3 provides, and the intake upgrade (bought used from a forum member) and the Cobb AP has really made a difference. If anything, the whoosh is awesome to hear :)
Mods so far include:
* TWM short shifter
* Corksport TIP
* Corksport stubby antennae
* Cobb SRI
* Cobb CAB
* Cobb RMM
* Cobb AP
* Autotech internals (prep for future mods)
* Rays TS-II Mazdaspeed rims (bought from member)
* Fluids include, Redline transmission fluid, NAPA gold oil filter, Rotella T6, Ultra 94
On order is the Saikou Michi OCC from the group buy. At that point I would like to clean the valves, replace the spark plugs, and I need to change the intake manifold gasket. Maybe I'll be able to find a weekend or something where people are getting together and doing something like this.
Future mods will probably include TMIC upgrade, and other minor things like changing fogs to LED to match the colour of the HIDs.
OK, this thread is useless without pictures. Enjoy!
First picture after purchase in the summer:

Stone chips on the hood that were bothering me, so had the hood wrapped in white "carbon fiber".

Took some pictures in the summer just down the road in Brampton along Heart Lake Rd.

Winter mode! Put winter tires on the original rims ("shinka") due to some pitting and water damage around the centre caps (previous owner). Relegated to winter rims now.

Looking good. How big are those rims?
Re: 2008.5 CWP MS3 - leifmadsen
18" rims. Stock with the car. 18x7. Putting 18x7.5 on this spring. When I need new tires will go to 225 width from current 215.

I really love the look of the Gen1 speed, especially in CWP. Clean and mean. :)
Re: 2008.5 CWP MS3 - leifmadsen
I remember when mine looked like that.
Looks great!
Re: 2008.5 CWP MS3 - leifmadsen
You probably don't even need to replace the spark plugs but, when you do... Replace the spark plugs with stock/OEM spark plugs.

They are likely close to due as I'm at 145k now. Jimmy says anywhere between 120k and 160k. Car runs really rich and maybe that's normal but figure new plugs for the summer doesn't hurt. Especially add I'm getting up on the KM.
I've read a bunch on the plugs and agree the OEM seem to be the most recommended.

I'm in the strawberry fields development at Kennedy and Mayfield. So I'm on the southwest side of Caledon, just north of Brampton.
I bought the car from someone who just happens to live around the corner on old school road.

Ah very cool. Nice little area kinda tucked in there. I am just down the street at Mayfield and 10. Let me know if you ever need any help working on your car. How many KM do you have on the car?

Yea need a mild drop for things to be just right. Thinking something simple like Cobb springs. Need to wait a bit though. Summer of maintenance! :)

Not yet :)
Probably do the hybrid rebuild with Cherry Turbos at some point.
Or I'm just going to end up with a new car in 2017 or 2018 due to all the awesome cars coming out.
Or I'm going to go stupid and build a motor... the possibilities are endless!
