i forget his tm3 name, but there is a picture of him at auto-x were it is obvious that the load of the car has transferred to one side due to (im no suspension geometry expert) heavy cornering and you could hear him rubbing from quiet afar. his setup is similar more or less (don't remember the specifics), with the exception of bc coils which are stiff (and therefore less body roll), but i guess if all your car ever does is sit pretty for nice pictures or look good going straight down the strip/AP logging, then you have nothing to worry about.../trollin'.
but get whats available to you and im sure with camber/spacers and celest pulling your fender (as he did for justin)....it will 'fit'.

This post makes no sense to me. How can you compare speculative numbers you're not sure about with concrete numbers? You don't remember any of the specifics of his car yet for whatever reason assume that my setup won't work because his didn't. There is not a single piece of evidence, hard numbers, anything there.
"A guy with a setup ran a course and rubbed - your setup sucks because his sucked".

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Vince, thanks for providing me with guidelines - exactly what I needed.

i believe he is on 245/40, not sure what width. regardless you can infer that it is not as wide as some of the other setups you posted which i assume are 9+. you're going to rub etc. that was my point.
is it proper what you want to run? no. will it 'work' - 'yes'.
and im frankly surprised you haven't used and or heard of a tire calculator before (would have come up in search)...can't say im surprised if that's 'exactly what you needed (sic)'.

I was following the MSF trend for wide rims + tires that I was planning on getting anyway, just not so wide. I know what a tire calculator is but in his post Vince put guidelines for proper fitment. That's what I was talking about.
All the setups I posted are the exact setup I want to run on my exact vehicle. That includes tires and rims with sizes and offsets.
This isn't a retarded frankenstein setup that I made up on the spot. I researched it, found pictures, and hard evidence as well as execution (spacers & rolling) that this is something that will work.
Thanks for the troll though.

he posted two tire calculators, told you stock offset, tolerances and a few caveats lol...

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
And you posted a genpu with no idea what setup hes running.
I've never had to deal with pushing the limits of my wheel setup so yeah, he kind of skipped the research portion of that for me.

you can infer that if he is rubbing from a setup that is visibily smaller than what you posted as 'evidence', then so will you since gen1 has smaller tolerances. but hey if your going to take pictures and go straight it doesn't matter, in theory...
/y u no critical think

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
So what offset are those wheels? Size? Width?
What about those tires?
Where did he rub? How hard of a turn? Does he rub on every turn or just that 1 turn?
Do you have any answers or you're just being annoying?
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
he rubbed at every turn. the wheels are smaller than yours. offset is high 40-50 since its still tucking. you can keep ignoring the obvious that what you want wont work without trouble (and there is nothing wrong with that; already seen on msf that its roll and spacers at minimum), but it isn't ideal (regardless if its your only option). or you can keep throwing out fallacies.
i have 18x9 +45, on 235/40/18 (what came with rims, not my first choice). dropped 1.75 or one fat finger gap all around. i know what works 'ideally' and what requires pulling, rolling. i want to go wider as well, but my thinking is 255/35 maybe more expensive and harder to find than 255/40, but its the right approach vs. rolling/pulling adding camber and all that other nonsense.

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
So this thread has been quiet lately... Was on MSF, just browsing through interesting threads about BT builds when I clicked on this one particular thread... Just want to say, HOLY CRAPTASTIC! :thumbsup
4 thumbs up! Raising the roof all the way to end of the Earth!
Sorry about the vague post. Just go on MSF and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about once you see that thread. Just got the chills! :chuckle
Just don't spill the damn beans yet though....

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Gen 1 or Gen 2? you sure it's in the BT build section?

I still can't find it. Why is it a secret if it's posted on MSF?
