Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
Today I went to install LED DRLs to head off the headlight frosting, I have a 2010 GT hatch with only 16700 Kilometers on the ODO. Unfortunately I noticed that I have some frosting already on the passenger headlight, so I will be at the dealers first thing Monday. The frosting is not too too bad but it is there.

put the stock bulbs back in before you bring it in... they will use any reason to deny free replacement

or they may switch the lights over, as we know its a problem already and people with half a brain would know leds wouldnt cause the haze.. but to save any fight.. lol yea switch them over

Oh yeah I already thought of that, no worries though the service manager looked at it and said no problem we will order a headlamp and call when it comes.

In the daylight I thought the frosting wasn't too bad, but when they brought the car into the service area to have a look it was really worse than I originally thought.

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
Appointment set up for next week to replace the headlamp.

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
Well I was really surprised today. Mazda was apparently Proactive and replaced both my headlamps, even though I was only showing problems on the passenger headlamp. I went ahead and put the LED bulbs in the DRLs so hopefully that problem is permanently eliminated.

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
Good for your dealer being proactive.
My dealer (from past posts) told me the next round of replacement of the replacement will not be covered as my warranty just finished a few weeks ago. I will need to put on my battle gears to fight with Mazda Canada.

and i like ive said to you in past posts that hopefully shouldnt happen. however if it is outside of warranty the dealer should go to bat for you if you need another replaced if you are shortly out of warranty. but if your 10,000 km plus. sadly not much the dealer can authorize unless of course they put in an after warranty request. but if thats denied then it would be you calling mazda canada and fingers crossed that wouldnt happen or need to get there

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
Hi Guys guess what
I bought my new skyactiv 10,000km ago and I am now noticing inside of the headlamps there is like a "clouding" or "Frosting" starting to appear in places...Kinda like what was said earlier...you get a piece of clear plastic and started twisting it, and you will notice the plastic turning white...this is what its starting to look like in some small places inside the headlamp??? one is messy on the bottom and the other light is near the top ....one of them look like someone touched them inside the headlamp and smudged it....I will see Mazda about it and they should just replace them as it is not condensation..I guarantee it...WTF is causing this?

I thought this issue was isolated with the GT models? Should I be watching out for my 2013 Skyactiv too?

it was only the GT'S that did have the issue, the 2010-2011s mostly.
Alex Kurdian, can you post a picture of what your headlamps look like?

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted

2010 is common, 2011 a little less, and 2012 should be at all. but make sure to get in as the lamps are only covered under 3years / 80,000 km. unless the vehicle falls into

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
They are replacing the headlamp. Not the lamp right?
So then, I will eventually run into the same issue again if I continue using the same lamp...?
Should I get the DRL bulb replaced?

the recall is for the "DRL" but by the time it gets to need what the recall needs the headlamps needs to be replaced due to hazing. but those are covered for 3 years 80k. unless approved by a dealer rep for replacemeber after 3 year 80k as the recall doesnt include them in the replacement parts list. :bang which makes no sense to me

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
guys I tried taking a photo but it can only be seen on certain angles & the camera isn't picking it up...I looks like there is milky liquid inside the headlamp but its not liquid its bizarre ??
-
Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
exactly what I had (on both)
Excess heat built up inside causing the plastic to haze over (so-to-speak).

So what caused this dodgy plastic lens?
I hope mazda swap them out cause I love this car and the lights are pissing me off cause I want my car MINT clean

Re: 2010 headlight lens melting/frosted
known issue from day 1.
the drl is running without resistor and basically heats up and over time, the excess heat built up that is trapped inside and began to haze over inside the headlight cover.
If your warranty is not up, Mazda Canada will replace the entire headlight assembly. If not under warranty, you will have to fight with Mazda Canada and your dealer.

Maybe not day one. But at least 6 months in. Lol but alex has a gs sky. It doesnt come with hids. He has installed them. But the sky lens assemblies are not effect or not included I the recall like the gt and speed lights were. I still would really like to see a picture of what your talking about. Even take a picture and circle the highlighted area of concern if its hard to see. Technically alex shouldnt be having a problem and I havent had any other vehciles with fogging or hazing in the lights that wasnta gt or speed. Less my gfs car thag had water inthe lamps, but again a different story.
Alex post a pic I want to see what your talking about even if it's hard to see in the picture. Circle it or add an arrow.

Ok mate I will try...also my lights are Bi Xenon white light...they are bright as hell...is that the same as HID?
Inside the light it is getting worse on one of them...its as if a oily liquid is slowly oozing across the lens....and you can only see it on certain angles...bizzaro!
