I got about 400 km for my first tank doing city and highway. I drive a bit hard on the gas so I expect it to be low but come on 400 km a tank? My sunfire got better gas mileage then that lol
WOW majic!!!! 300????? AWESOME!!!! (jealous over here)
On my last tank of gas I only got 300km before the gas light came on. I will admit that most of the time I do drive pretty hard, but when I filled up I decided to try and get better fuel economy, so i've been driving a lot easier.
This is what im at after a quarter tank...
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...03-07_2206.jpg
and thats 100% city driving.
no, the first one is in pure daytime and no cruise (green light has to be on) the other one was at night when i was cruising back on the highway, i do use cruise a lot tho, even in the city (within reason of course) so i don't have to worry about a ticket
not really.. say in the above example, the first half you get 270 and the light comes on at 500, after the light you have an EASY 60 km remaining (i've done up to 100km) so that's 270 and 290 for first and second half respectively.. then again each tank varies..
EDIT: those with trip computer, how sensitive is the sensor/display? say you brake hard or take an onramp quite fast, does the 'remaining fuel' or 'remaining km' change drastically? at all? just wondering how the digital gauge differs from the analog one..
holy shit! i have 300km on my current tak and I am down to 1/4 tank...wtf!
I do mostly Highway driving on the 407, and a little bit of city driving in and around Richmond Hill.
I average around 500-530 km/tank
im gonna be lucky to hit 375 by the time the light comes on
Thanks for the explanation...haha I don't think I've ever used my cruise yet so I wouldn't know about the green light....I guess I should try it and see if it works.I guess the tank thing seems that way to me because I never allow it to go below about 1/3 tank before filling it, ... just being cautious.
As for Blkout's situation man your mileage really sucks, either you drive very spirited or there is something definitely wrong.Have you taken in to the dealer and had it scanned? .....just wondering.

I drove from Toronto to St Catherine's and back and it was about 300 km. I used only about quarter tank. attached is a pick I took at quarter but from the angle it looks it was under 3 quarter but I assure it, it was at a quarter. Now I am at half with only 100 more km.
So full to 3 quarter was 190 km and then 3 quarter to half was basically 100 km.
sucks, I thought buying a import would improve my gas mileage, not stay the same as a 99 sunfire. :bang
In the summer driving 95% highway, and shifting between 2.5 and 3.5k, doing maybe 115-120, I average 600 - 620 kms, per 45-50 litres (I don't have the guts letting it get any lower than that). That equals 7.2 - 8.3 litres/100 kms
In the winter, on winter tires, and rims with the same driving habits, I average about 550 kms.
i average about 450km on a full tank 3/4 city 1/4 highway. not that bad i guess would like more but meh what can you do....
I just thought that I would post this. I took this pic today. Personally I don't think it means much without mentioning other variables. But here it is anyway...

not bad ^^^.
since i've installed my exhaust. i've actually noticed a bit of a gain in mileage...
my first tank lasted 515 and well into the reserve.
my 2nd tank lasted about 475 just started into the reserve.
on my 3rd tank right now and i'm at 400kms with about 1/5-1/4 tank left.
Hopefully that's the same case for the MS3s. :chuckle It's still in break in process, I only have about ~400km. We'll see how it goes. Then again, my foot tend to be pretty heavy time to time on gas pedal. :chuckle
Don't forget... at 15+ psi of boost, when you put your foot down you're burning gas at about the same rate as a 4.6+L V8. :bana
Holy crap... no wonder I can actually seethe gauge going down when I step on it.
you know what, i really dont know how you guys get 500km+ per tank, i dont even come near, not even once, i get 400 whether i drive it hard or i baby it, winter or summer, theres no difference, and honestly how much more gas does it eat if i hammer the pedal everytime? would i b able to get close to 500 when i usually get 400km? seems like we have different cars imo lol
I'm on my 2nd tank of gas after I got the car. First tank was on Mazda, it last for approximately 370km until the light came up. Right now I'm on last 1/4 of the tank the trip meter is at 320km. It seems like I'll be getting about 400km this time before the light comes up.
Than again, I'm still in break in process, the car only have about ~700km.
It doesn't make sense regular 2.3 only get 400km when 2.3 DISI is lasting for about 400km in break in period!
I see a lot of people guaging their economy by when the light comes on.
I routinely go 100 km after the light comes on before filling up and still have 5-10 litres in the tank when I do. You can go at least 70 km after you hit E.
The guage is set up so that you have to be either very unlucky, or very stupid to run out.
I average between 7-8.5 litres / 100 kms depending on where and how I drive

first tank i got 420km's but the dealer didn't fill up to the top - i drove a bit on empty till 444km before gas up 52 litres for $52 @ $1.04.3
Just finishing my 1st tank today and we got to 390 when the light went on. Averaged about 11.5L/100 or so says the computer. Not bad for the 1st tank, but given some break in time, I'm sure it'll get much better. I do almost all city driving, so I'm semi-happy. Coming from a '94 civic without AC, it's a little hard to judge what's good.
I think most everyone here experienced poor mileage for the first little while, your right it'll get better has the engine breaks in.Since you do mostly city driving I would impress on you to change to synthetic oil at your first oil change, whenever you decide that will be....it will help.

.
i at the dealer right now switching to synthetic. will synthetic make a drastic difference?
its like clockwork for me....no matter hwy or city...475 and the light comes on.....this last tank, i drove purely city with maybe 50kms max on highway....and i shifted 90% below 3,000 rpm.
It will in the sense of ultimate protection and I can only speak for myself, when I say I noticed a slight improvement in my fuel mileage but again if anyone is doing mostly city driving which is by far much harder on engines as opposed to hwy driving, I think synthetic is a must.

i just dont liek the fuel prices now
is tooooo high
i got about 500 before the light went on, on my 2nd tank since i got the car.
Just bought my first tank of gas and reset the odometer. Time to start my mileage tracking. :)
3rd tank on the new GT hatch and I got 300km to half tank. This was primarily city driving with only about 90km on the highway. I was also somewhat aggressive with the throttle at times. There were no redline accelerations, but some pushing 5000rpms...Trying to break her in nicely...
BTW, I never let the car go down to the light, so my numbers will always be to the half tank line...
Rich
I don't know how relevant this is, but I think my average consumption on the computer thingy is 10.9 right now.
I've been unhappy with my fuel economy since I got my car.
Here's what I got on my last tank:
Date: 04/23/07
$: 44.07
L: 43.720
km: 414.3
miles: 257.45
l/100km: 10.55
mpg(m): 22.29
mpg(I): 26.77
I've had my ECU flashed, tire pressure is checked regularly...
I do about 70 City/30 HWY....
I don't drive like a granny but I don't have a lead foot either..
I have a 2005 2.3L AT Sedan
Does anybody, get better mileage with a cai and cat-back exhaust?
I switched out of winter tires and fuel efficiency is back up to 500-600 KM a tank. I found that the Mazda 3 does really really poorly in stop and go, because it seems to take alot of gas to get going.
Harder tires i guess let me roll a little more before having to gas.
i just got 7.4L/100km on my last tank.. still rollin on my hankook w300 and they faired very well in the nasty rain yesterday :)
