Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Read 11 volts. Then jumpstarted and read 12 volts but wasn't enough to run the car for long. Managed to get a friend to help me push it off the road and its parked on a side street

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Sounds like a straight forward install

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread

Apparently. It's the heater motor that makes that makes that noise. It happened to me yesterday and that's what a mechanic told me at work

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
My car won't start today at all. It sounds like it's choking at start up. Battery is good it has power. Any suggestions as to what may be "frozen" would be great.
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
maybe the -1000 weather. No ones car starts in this weather, no ones, ever, in the history of cold weather, just wait until it warms up

You might want to invest in a block heater lol... and did you try holding the gas pedal slightly down on start up?
My car almost didn't start after sitting out in the parking lot all day in this cold when I was at work.

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
No problems starting today...we would have weather like this or colder for weeks on end in northern ontario, was rarely a problem.

Good to know, my car cranked 3 times and on the last one all the lights were starting to dim on my dash. Is that normal for you this kinda cold? @SomeGuy

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread

Up north on the old 3 yes the dash lights would dim while trying to turn it over. Down here, hasn't happened yet (hasn't been cold enough). To give yourself a better chance to start, turn everything off when you park the car (heater, radio, headlights, seats, etc). Also turn the car on, without starting it, for a few seconds before cranking to give everything a chance to start up off load.
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
^+1 I made sure I turned off seat heater, fan, and headlights if it's really cold outside. Mine started no problem, whined for about half a second and she started right up. No dim at the dash too.
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
yeah i am definately going to get one lol @pwdunmore no luck getting it started today. i got it to fire up once and it was misfiring like crazy. as soon as i let go of the gas it died and i havent gotten it to start. gonna pick up some quick start and see if that helps. i tried to push my car in the garage yesterday but my driveway has too much of a slope.

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Your car is scrap metal, you just don't know it yet.
Let me know when you're ready to part it out, I need a few things if they are still good.

$430 + tax for block heater installed in gen2 MS3 as quoted by local Mazda dealer...apparently $300 of that is labour since they are labour intensive to install.
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
No one in the gta needs a f****ing block heater
Holy shit
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Just buy an ap...set the boost to 30 psi. Set your timing to 30 degrees at redline. Go for a rip. Tow your car home and stick candles in the hole in your block. Problem solved
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
LMAO...angry much?
Block heater is definitely not needed down here.
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
LOL...even in Alberta my parents dont have a block heater and they park their cars outside. Definitely not needed in ON

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
If I were driving a built(forged) engine in the winter I would get a block heater as precaution.
Cold starts are tough on an engines as and with clearances changing with a built(forged) engine why would you risk something by making the oil viscous in the sub freezing temperatures.
No one normally needs a block heater with the mild winters we normally have but climate changes. You're ignorant to think it wouldn't help your engine and if you have the ability to install it yourself it's worth the investment. I park in a garage so I don't need one but if I have a forged engine and was parking outside I would install one.
Bunch of damn sheep around here...

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
you also need somewhere to plug in your block heater
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Outdoor extension cord, electricity works through one of those right?

Not everyone who parks outdoors have access to an outlet. This isn't the north west where outlets are available in public parking lots
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
I'm talking about parking at his house...

Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
You sounded like you didn't know what to plug the block heater into to get it power. Plus I am tired of you guys poking at mikey and clearly you have nothing constructive to add but if it's anyone else it's a completely different story. I don't expect people to know what I do and I don't expect to know everything you do...
Why don't you turn up the boost and timing on your BT and blow your stock bottom end so you can rebuild it, that would solve your problem right?
-
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Nope it won't solve my problem
But of course I know that
