Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
I don't see why not, I mean it's the only intake out that fits a 2010 that doesn't give a CEL. I know others come with air straighteners now, but to me that kinda sounds like a band aid fix. Maybe do an interest thread and see what kind of feedback you get?

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
ya I will do a interest thread to see how many people are interested in the 2010 Simota.
and see if we can stock a few units for the 2010+ guys

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
UPDATE, well after driving it for a while still no problems but I did notice something. Something good.
It has been wet here lately so getting a lot of dirt water sprayed on you from the car in front of you. Anyways checked my oil there today and noticed that the entire front of the carbon fiber cover was caked with dirt. The way the hood is designed is letting that dirt water spray into your engine bay, I even had some on the battery cover.
So my point is, for those people that are running an open filter intake like the Corksport, you are sucking in trace amounts of water. The filter on the Simota is covered and not affected by this.
Yes I know a little won't hurt, but I figured you would like to know that. Because I've had a few cars with full CAIs and always got some random misfires from trace amounts of water being sucked in, that is why I will only install a SRI now.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
I emailed SRI but no one in Canada has em' yet for the 2010. They sent me to a shop in florida since i'll be down there next week I hope I can pick one up. Thanks for the review! I'm sold!! :)

Good to hear. Actually I wonder if it is Gary you are going to see? His business is called West Imports in St. Augustine, FL. Feel free to update the thread once you get it.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
It is Gary who I was referred to.. Going to shoot him an email tomorrow probably. Hopefully I can swing by where he's at and pick it up instead of having to ship it. Save a few bucks....

i'd buy one for the 2.0 for shizzle.
Is it a good idea to put the stock filter back on before going to the dealer for any work?

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
It can save you a headache depending upon how anal your dealer is. I did when I had to do the headlight recall just because I didn't want a hassel and wanted to try the simota panel filter.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
So I finally got my Simota, delivered yesterday, installed today. Unfortunately I got the CEL come on. Hopefully it goes away on its own :) Haven't gone for a boot yet but will soon. Thanks for your install instructions, even though I had to do it backwards and put the support on first haha....

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
Just take off the negative battery terminal, and the CEL will go away. I did get a CEL once during the first month I owned it, forget the number though, definitely was not anything major.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
Anyone have a dyno for this intake on the 2010, 2.5L. Didn't see it in search, but I may have missed it. Would appreciate it if someone has one.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
You won't find a dyno on it. Simota has some dynos posted on their site for the 2.3, but they don't make a whole lot of sense.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
Thanks, yah, you're right. They really don't. :)
I have a buddy looking to get an SRI for his 2010 and he's considering the PRM or the Simota. I've seen the dyno and the gains on the PRM on the old gen intake, but not the Simota. Just trying to help him decide which to go with. Appreciate the response.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
I didn't know someone actually dyno'd the PRM, I would be curious to see that. I mean the Simota sells in bulk on the M3F, so I think it's a safe bet, I wouldn't trade mine and you can definitely feel a difference. Putting the stock on for trips to the dealer is depressing.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
I was one of those guys who got in with the M3F GB, and I love mine so far. No clue what the actual gains are, but you can for sure tell there is a little something extra there.

Here you go. Keep in mind this is a dyno on a 2.3L old gen sedan and not on the 2.5L new gen MZ3's.

Right on, what other mods did he have?

At the time, I don't believe he had any other engine mods. He may have had a cat-back exhaust though, I'll have to ask him. It was Ami, (S.F.W.) that did the dyno on his car. They did the pre-install baseline and then the post-install dyno on the same evening. I was considering using my '05 for the prototype, but I don't like running prototype anything in my cars. I do now run with the PRM in the '05.
My buddy with the 2010 is looking at either the Simota or the PRM. I'm just trying to help him make the best choice for his car. I've personally never run the Simota and the lack of dyno info bugs me. On the flip side, I know the 2010 prototype PRM intake had CEL issues which I thought were resolved, but just want to be sure of.

At the time of the dyno, there were no other engine mods on the car. Cat Back came after intake. I have not run the 2010 version of the Simota, but am running the 04-09 version. My advice, if the purchaser cares at all about aesthetics, go with the Simota. If price is more the driver, go with the PRM. The PRM looks like a DIY intake, but sounds/performs otherwise. The Simota looks like a professionally developed intake, and performs well.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
LOL. Little bugger responded before I could even PM him. Thanks Ami. :)

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
Another nice feature of the PRM is it isn't near impossible to get a replacement filter if you need one. The Simota good luck getting a new filter.

Re: REVIEW: Simota Carbon Charger for a 2010 Mazda 3 (2.5L engine)
we could order the filters in actually
