Hey akrad, u\'re paying a lot. I suggest you do the driver\'s education training. It\'s worth it. Spend 4 weekends on classroom theory and some pratical.. u\'ll lower your insurance by a thousand a year.:)

G license, no ticket in the past 3 years (1 speeding ticket in 2001). I\'m 28, first & only driver of the car -->
full coverage, $500 deductible: $2400. Way to high if you ask me, but I\'m stucked w/ them until Jun 2006. I\'ll gonna call TD Monnex and PC Insurance after the policy expires.

Do modifications such as suspension, cat-back, intake etc. add up the premium? I\'m switching to Monnex and being asked to have vehicle inspection.
I don\'t know the answer to your question, but when I switched to Monnex they didn\'t ask that we go for an inspection for either of our cars.Quote:

Chaser, the mods will increase your premiums as the insurance company will categorize you as a higher risk/more aggresive driver.

Mine is 1 year old now.
The best I can do is to put the snow tires on with black steelies to make the car look a bit dumber; and start driving like a highschool kid if they really categorize me as aggressive driver :p (i\'ve a clean record!)Quote:

TD Insurance is not Meloche Monnex. TD Insuarance wont have alumni discount, Meloche Monnex does. So if you call up TD Insurance for a discount, they tell you to call MM.Quote:

I am 23 currently but will be 24 when I recieve my 2006 m3 sport GT. I possess a G class licence (since 04/2004 and my G2 since 04/2000)
I have had 1 accident back in march of 2002 and no tickets.
Currently my family has 2 cars (3 drivers) and I am a 2ndary driver.
My family is insured with TD (not monnex) and now that I have shopped around I have found that the lowest price I have been able to find is with TD Monnex @ 5095. All other insurance companies quoted me for 5500 - 8000 per year.
However it seems that TD Monnex will only insure myself and not my parents thus I would not be able to drive the other cars that we own (we have 3 people and 3 cars). Adding myself to my parent\'s insurance policy yielded insane premiums of upwards of 9k(neither of my parents have accidents or tickets and are both 50+ with good credit and each their own business).
I\'m curious as to how some of the other under 25s are getting insurace for such a low rate (i.e. i see some posts that are in the 2000 range)

I\'m just guessing but I think it might be the accident in 2002 and the fact that u\'r under 25.. it might be better if u could wait until march or after march so that when the person asks if u\'ve had any accidents u could say no.. also, u only got ur G license almost 2 yrs ago.. that might have something to do with it.. I\'ve had my G license since I was 18 (way back in 97).. since I\'m just guessing don\'t quote me any of this.. just throwing out some rough ideas of why u\'r insurance might be so high..Quote:

i think that sometimes the brokers covers their eyes and writes down 25 for the age. not sure bout this. might have to call mythbuster for this.

if you are 24 they will give u all the discounts as if you are 25

Before I got my Mazda3 in late December 2005, I was with TD General Insurance. Asked for a quote for the Mazda3 and they said about $2,100 for the year. Thanks to the suggestions in this thread, I shopped around. The only company that beat TD\'s price was PC Financial. Then I started reading about alumni discounts. So I checked up Centennial College\'s alumni page and found that Johnson Inc. Insurance offered a special alumni rate for car insurance. Called them up and they quoted me about $1,500 for the year :D

I\'ve been with State Farm the past 5 years or so. I just got my renewal form in January, and was hit with a \"Change of vehicle rating group\" increase, which came to an extra $28 per month, bringing my monthly cost to an insane $252!!
Apparently, all Mazda 3 owners will have their rates increase with State Farm (not sure of other companies) on next renewal due to revised ratings of the car given by Mazda Canada.
So anyways, i shopped around by policy and TD Meloch Monnex offered me over $100/month cheaper since im a Waterloo alumni!
So, 28 year old male, 3 not-at-fault accidents in the past 5 years and no speeding tickets is $144.
Boo State Farm. Yay Meloche!!
